1. What are at least three important things you learned from Dr. Absher about presenting yourself as a professional?
As it pertains to working in the medical field, I learned from today’s lecture that judgment is based more on the characteristics of professionalism than the medical training itself. (Absher, 2016). These professional characteristics consist of appearance, attire and behaviors to name just a few. Not only is it imperative that we dress professional for this reason, but also because of the negative affects a casual dress code can have on one’s behaviors and work ethics. According to Absher (2016), dressing in a more relaxed attire can lead to an increase in tardiness, and poor choice of conversations between coworkers as well
