As part of our school's community service program,I volunteered at a family with a down syndrome child. For two years, I went to help the Jablons every Thursday right after school.I helped out with a variety of things including homework, bathing the little ones, and physical therapy with Nesanel. Sometimes it seemed as though I was on the giving end, however I was really the receiver. I have learned so much from Nesanel. From his precious smile, his determination, and his love for others. Nesanel loves friends. He doesn't discriminate between people from different backrounds or color. Nesanel is truly special. Working with him and his siblings has given me a new outlook on…

Thanks for all you've done in accommodating me with this nightmare. Moreover, I'm blessed. I can't stop thanking God and you! For some apparent reason, I did not see the letter grade (C). However, I'm lost for words. On the other hand, I feel stupid because of all the emails prior to discovering the letter grade. I'm apologetic and I thank you for considering my plea.…

The person I interviewed was Mr. Hugh Jundies. Throughout the interview I tried to help Hugh by helping him process through his goal. I think this helped him really make sure the goal was his own and not someone else’s. After much processing he came up with his goal. His goal for the year is to do well in the blended program. This is important to him because he thinks that getting a higher GPA shows that he has higher dedication to the subject. He also feels as though, the more focus and time he puts into it, then the more knowledge and understanding of the subject. He also mentioned that getting great grades would make him feel better about himself. It also would prove to himself that he balanced his responsibilities well. After he told me…

Style is in my blood, I've been doing it for years for family, friends, etc. Helping kids is my passion and always has been. So here is just my small avenue where I can combine both of the things that I enjoy most to create a positive…

Earlier this semester I had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Kahn, and asked him some questions. I was interested in asking him questions because I had admired him as a teacher, and a person throughout the semester. I had never met someone who appeared as intelligent as Dr. Kahn, but was also down to earth. In class he spoke in a way that was easy to understand, he also accepted, and answered our questions no matter how ignorant, or insignificant.…

Since Jack stood up for me, I’ve regained my confidence. Nancy invites me over during the week and helps me learn to be more carefree and how to open up to others. Nancy was vehement while teaching me and was hoping I could start to fit in. Mr. Addams continues to tutor me after school and my grades have been gradually increasing. My classmates have also started to accept that I’m different and I’ll never be like them, but being different shouldn’t affect how I’m seen by everyone. I started to make small conversations with classmates rather than holding back my thoughts and others have seen my looks may be different than theirs but they could still be friends with me rather than judge my mistakes and the way I talk. I’ve had less stress since…

As my head comes out of the cold water, my hair dripping, and my mascara smeared I knew in that moment that I was renewed. I walk out of the pool full of passion and happiness to greet my best friend, Elena. As I begin walking out the bathroom I find Elena waiting for me. We hug and cry together in happiness knowing we had done something the both of us believed strongly in. We dry ourselves off and sit down together surrounded by all of our friends watching as the other kids got baptized. The smiles on our faces could not leave as we watched our pastors baptize these kids that we had grown very close to.…
