Theodor Geisel
Theodor Geisel was one of the greatest and most under looked writers of all time. Chances are you’ve never heard of Geisel but you are very familiar with his work. Theodor Geisel is the author and creator of the famous children’s books and films called Dr. Seuss. Theodor was born in a small town in Springfield, Massachusetts where he attended Springfield Central High School. He took an art class his freshman year and later became the captain of the soccer team, at this point in his life he didn’t seem to show much interest in writing, but he did seem to show an interest in art.

Most were published under his well known name Dr. Seuss, although he authored more than a dozen books as Theo LeSieg and one with Rosetta Stone. His books have topped many best seller lists, he sold over 500 million copies, and has been translated into more than 20 different languages. In the year 2000, “Publishers Weekly” compiled a list of the bestselling children's books of all time, and of the 100 books, Geisel wrote 16 of them.
Even through all of Geisel’s hardships and tough times he was still able to become one of the most famous writers in all of history. He first gained major popularity as well as wealth with his book “The cat in the Hat” which he published early in 1940. Throughout the years the name Dr. Seuss has become a household name and Geisel has become a phenomenal success. His film “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” grossed $345,141,403 in 2000 and just 3 years later “The Cat in the Hat” grossed $133,960,541.
Theodor Seuss Geisel was an extremely successful entrepreneur and in my opinion he was one of the most significant and successful entrepreneurs in history. Throughout his career he experienced many setbacks and problems, he was denied by over 20 different companies, yet he still strived for greatness.
