The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a great romance story between two characters. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota. In St. Paul Minnesota he lived with his mother Mary McQuillan and his father Edward Fitzgerald. (James) According to the St. James Encyclopedia when Fitzgerald was fifteen his parents sent him to the newman school in New Jersey. After he finished school he stayed in New Jersey so that he could continue his studies at the Princeton University. When he was at Princeton that is where he decided that he wanted to be a writer but later had to join the army. T.J Eckleburg and the Gatsby's parties. The way that Dr. T.J. Eckleburg is symbolized is that it shows the decay of the American Dream during this time. The reason why this is important is because it showed how America during this time was starting to go into the depression. Another thing that is symbolized is the Gatsby's parties. This is symbolized by the way the people who are wealthy would throw parties. This is also shown because unlike Gatsby, Daisy and Tom shows that they have been wealthy for a while. James Encyclopedia Fitzgerald moved to France in 1924 and wrote one of his greatest novels The Great Gatsby. In the story the main characters that are in the story is Daisy, Nick, and Jay Gatsby. Nick is important because he is the narrator in the story. Daisy is important because she is Nick's cousin. Jay Gatsby is important because he is the person who loves Daisy. The symbols that are in the story are the green light, valley of ashes, Dr. T.J. Eckleburg, and Gatsby’s parties. The way that each of these are symbolized is how they represent them at each part of the story. Clearly, The Great Gatsby is a very thrilling and very romantic story about one man who has loved a girl
