“If you commit the crime, you are guilty”(Rush Limbaugh). Even though not all crimes are reported to the police, crime rates have fallen since the early 1990’s. For example, the country of Honduras has the average highest murder rate at about 90 people per 100,000 people. The criminals that commit the crime are most likely going to lie to you. They may make up stories and pretend it was something else. Queenie Keithley is guilty because she left the country club 10 minutes early, she was in an argument with her husband, Joe, and the glass in Joe’s hand was not broken after he “fell” down the stairs.…

As a teenager, she began accompanying her mother in concert, and went on to back artists like Lou Rawls and Chaka Khan” (Huey, Steve). Houston is now described as one of the biggest female pop stars of all time. Over her twenty-seven years in the spotlight that began in 1984, Houston has progressed to become a well-known and admirable icon in both music and film. I believe that these mothers are living vicariously through their daughters, hoping their girls will receive the attention and praise they do not get in their own lives. The moms try to cure their poor self-esteem and hunger for admiration by making up and dressing their young girls in inappropriately scanty clothes. They put make-up on their daughters, without realizing that they are, in effect, pimping out their own child. To be a contender in these beauty pageants these children are getting spray on tans, wearing "flippers"—fake teeth to hide the gaps that normal girls have from losing their baby teeth, fake fat hair, and loads of make makeup. One four year old contestant was dressed by her mom donning fake breasts and a padded bottom to follow her idol Dolly Parton.…

At a young age some of us are introduced to the innocence of a crush. The fluttering sensation of butterflies in the pit of ones stomach. The awareness of the sheer joy that being near said 'person of interest'. In addition to this experience, some can also relate in their fair share of embarrassing encounters with their crushes. In particular my mind drifts to a memory that sticks out like a sore thumb, one found in my years in middle school. My crush was very obvious, even I was slightly aware of such. I was beginning to predict that he in particular also knew I had my eyes on him. Although I had ensured rejection as the baseline for where my expectation…
