Dramatic Monologue
Hello, I wanted to send you an email about something that was concerning to me after the game today. Kate came off the field very upset and unfortunately I had two other players with me that I was transporting home so I didn’t get much of a chance to discuss this with her until tonight. She wouldn’t tell me what was wrong right away, but one of the other players told me she was upset because her coach said there were three players that didn’t hustle and just stood there during the game today. Now I have taught for many years and also coached and take everything an 8 year old tells me with a grain of salt. However, I have a couple concerns. I wanted to reach out to you, hoping that I am not getting a completely accurate version. . Let me say I agree with you 100% if you think Kate was not hustling. In fact, I have noticed that as well in the games I have seen this so far this season and we …show more content…
I’m hoping this isn’t the case and this is just what they heard in their head after a frustrating game. If this is what happened, I am concerned about the way this could affect an 8 year old’s confidence being singled out in a group and the way she is perceived by her teammates. That another player was able to name three girls to me makes me a little worried that they may think these girls are the reason the game was lost, when in fact, our entire team was outmatched by a superior team. As a coach, I hope that when she comes out of the game or, afterward, you absolutely correct her and let her know where she is lacking. I am sure you didn’t say this, but Kate also took some of the message as this will be the reason she won’t make a team next year. When we talked about it tonight, she said I want to play next year. I know she’s not the best player on the team, but she has potential and is a good listener and wants to do

The bitter night Avah was killed the whole town was out celebrating. The Spring Festival was an annual affair and only the most isolated of persons would have not been there. It was a festival meticulously planned out by those intrigued in such matters and each detail was carried out to exact perfection. The Humphrey family would perform a skit each year at exactly six-thirty, the mayor would grace the audience with a well-planned speech at six-forty-five. At seven o’clock the potluck dessert would be brought out by the women and then once a half hour had passed, enough time for the people to converse with each other, the festival games would begin.…

The first day of try outs, I stepped out on the field with a nervous feeling in my stomach but a confident look on my face. Among the girls I was the smallest and the youngest, but I never let that discourage me. I was a fourteen year old girl passionate about the sport with a bit of natural talent, but had more than enough to learn. I was trying out for second base along with two older girls who were both bigger and had more experience. I was doing everything it took to prove to the coach and to the girls that I was worthy of a starting position. It was a long stressful week of tryouts, but I made it through feeling confident that I had made the team, yet I was still nervous because anything could happen. The coach finally posted the list of the names of the girls who made the team. I waited eagerly for the older girls to move so I could see the list; when I finally got to the front and saw my name on the list, I was excited but more relieved than anything. It was like a huge weight off my chest, but I knew I still had a long way to go. We had about a month until our first preseason game, and until then we wouldn't know who was starting in each position.…

My father trotted up to the dart game, like he was a big shot. I requested if I could play at least once.
