Your assignment is to describe a therapy session with Sigmund Freud or Carl Jung based on a dream you have had. (If you cannot remember one you have had then come up with a common dream that people have) You are demonstrating that you understand Freud’s/ Jung’s theory and how he would analyze a patient---YOU!
Step 1: Remember or come up with a dream you have had.
Step 2: Write down the characteristics from your dream: ➢ Setting: ➢ Mood: ➢ Objects: ➢ Colour: ➢ People:
Step 3: Decide whose theory you will use to analyze your dream; Sigmund Freud or Carl Jung.
Step 4: Google “dream dictionary” and a variety of websites will be available to you. On those sites you should search each of the components of your dream. Look at several sites and pick the definitions that you think are a good fit.
Step 5: Imagine you are lying on Freud/ Jung’s couch. Describe the conversation within a therapy session with Freud/Jung where you ask him to analyze your dream. (This conversation should be in the form of a dialogue, where you have a discussion and Freud/Jung will analyze your dream based on his theory) Please incorporate new terminology along with their definitions in your analysis. Relate the ideas from the ‘dream dictionary’ and Freud/Jung’s theory into your analysis. You are demonstrating that you understand the theories so please provide variety. Also, be sure to respond to Freud/Jung’s analysis to confirm or deny its validity. (This is a conversation so be sure to describe a small part of your dream, then Freud/Jung’s analysis, then you will respond, then you will describe the next part of your dream, etc.)
Your analysis should be three pages MAXIMUM, typed, double spaced, size 12 font so you must be descriptive but direct. If you must handwrite your assignment, please see me. Please try and type it if possible. Please also submit the rubric with your assignment.
