Dreams Motivate People In Of Mice And Men
People come up with dreams all of the time. Some people stick to their dreams and work for them, always trying to reach their goal. Using a dream can help people get through a hard time and to motivate themselves to keep working and fighting. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck shows the idea of people using dreams to motivate themselves to succeed, even outside of the realm of fictional books, dreams motivate people.
In the book Of Mice and Men, the main characters George and Lennie are migrant workers but Lennie is mentally challenged. George and Lennie came up with this little story of how they are different from the other migrant workers. George says, “They come to a ranch an’ work up a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake…” …show more content…
I personally understand what it's like to use something so simple as a dream to keep yourself going and working. My dream is to become a youth pastor. Last year during winter I went into a pit of sadness, but I eventually dug my way out back into peace. Not long after I got into a long, exhausting, and honestly petty fight with my closest friends. From there I went down in a spiral, one thing after another hit me; I slowly lost my friends and self confidence. Before anything bad ever happened to me, it was placed on my heart to become a youth pastor. Although I did not know why I would ever make a good pastor, I did not know how much my life would be impacted in the following years, nor did I know how much this little dream would end up helping me. During my seasons of sadness I forgot about my dream and just wished everything away with all of my heart. I lost sight of the dream I had once thought was so cool and amazing. In the midst of losing all of my friends I found my dream again. I did not know how to get out of my situation, I just knew to hang on and keep working towards my goal. During the summer before ninth grade I was able to use my dream to build my empire back up, so I used it as a light for my journey. I found everything once again, my confidence, friends, and honestly my purpose. I still have not made it to my dream but I'm working towards it everyday. Using my dream I want to shape a life I can be proud of when I'm older and looking back. I'm no where close to my dream but waiting for something has never stopped me before; in the meanwhile I'll keep working on myself and my dream until it becomes a reality.
Hopes and dreams can be looked at as stupid but to others it helps motivate them so they can succeed. In the book, Of Mice and Men both George and Lennie are motivated by their dream of owning a farm of their

    Of Mice and Men follows the “unlikely pair” George and Lennie as they “cling together in the face of loneliness and alienation” in the 1930’s (Steinbeck,1937).
