Drug Addiction
Introduction: The negative consequences of drug abuse and addiction affect not only individuals who abuse drugs, but also their families and friends. The economic cost of drug abuse in 2002 to the United States was 180.9 billion. In 2011, 22.5 million Americans ages 12 and up had used some type of drug. This amount is huge and it’s growing at a fast pace. With so many organizations and treatment centers why are so many individuals addicted?
Conclusion:
Drug and alcohol addiction is said to be the worst kind of addictions an individual can have. It can cause or possibly worsen any medical problem you may have. Drug and alcohol addiction destroys families, jobs, careers, and wallets. If drugs and alcohol can cause all these bad things to happen, why do them? If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol seek help. There are so many organizations and treatment centers that are willing to help. Let’s not allow drug and alcohol addiction to be the leading cause of death in 2014.
