Many employers are complying with the Drug-Free Workplace Act and screening new employees. These employers are also implementing prevention and education programs. Some private sector employees feel that drug screening in an impeachment of their rights as an American and felt resentment towards employers who test for drugs. From an ethical standpoint many safety sensitive jobs should test any and all employees. Impairment in the workplace can endanger the employee, coworkers, quality of work, along with many other aspects of the job. Some may argue that drug testing should be conducted on any employee who interacts with other employees, or works with or on any object that could cause injury or harm to the employer, employee, or consumer. Many people find testing policies controversial because there are numerous factors that play a role from and ethical and legal standpoint.
