drugs
Drug addiction is one of the most concerned issues all around the world. Either consuming or trading drug in some countries are strictly prohibited. For instance, ‘January 2009, Yong Vui Kong, a Malaysian was sentenced to death in Singapore for trafficking heroin’. However, the restrictions or even the punishments seem to have failed remediating this issue. Drug trafficking among teenagers has been increasing rapidly and immediate ‘remedies’ are indispensable to prevent further societal consequences. Other than governmental efforts, family and school who teenagers spend most time with, play important roles in dealing the mentioned issue. In term of family, parent is our strongest influencer. ‘Spare the rod and spoil the child,’ best described it. However, nowadays, most of the parents are either over coddle or neglect with their children. Substantially, this partially caused the drug trafficking issues among teenagers. Other than providing shelter, parents are also responsible in guiding their children to live the right way. Other than being the exemplars, immediate actions such as reporting the involved parties to the police or sending their drug taking children to the nearest rehabilitation center whenever a drug trafficking activity is spotted. Hesitation will only further deepen the ‘pit’. School is the second place where teenagers spend most of their time at. Although we have been learning about the dangers of drug abuse since our elementary school, curiosity incites our desire to try consuming drugs. Therefore, further preventions such as anti-drug campaign should be held more frequently. Other than instilling the teenagers by creating the awareness, supports and guidelines should be provided too by the counselors whenever any drug related activity is disclosed. In addition to academic, students’ doings and attitudes are also to be supervised to better improve the drug trafficking issue. In terms of authority, government has the highest capability in admonishing drug trafficking issues. Domestically, enforcing the law and strengthening the police forces had shown positive result in reducing drug trading activities. Furthermore, penalties such as penal sum, prisoning or even sentencing to death should be strictly executed to show determination. Internationally, custom and intelligence agencies should be improved as they are responsible in preventing the illegal ‘entrance’ of drugs, in another word, smuggling. As a conclusion, to better remediate the problem of increment in drug trafficking among teenagers, all the mentioned bodies above should play their roles well. Last but not least, we as the teenagers should also understand the circumstances and try our best to refrain ourselves from engaging in any drug related activities.

Throughout this 8-week semester, I have been learning how to write argumentative essays using the provided articles as well as the ones I find on my own to help support my arguments. I like how the first three papers are designed as a step by step teaching tool. For example, paper one teaches me how to read and summarize the articles and to give a short response to each article. This is very helpful, because without having a deep understanding of the issue being discussed, I would not be able to generate my opinion and present it to the audience. The second paper requires more than reading and summarizing. This paper actually introduces me to argumentative research essays by asking me to find one additional resource to support my arguments. The third paper, which is also the biggest research paper, requires me to have a well-broad understanding of the complexity of the topic and to be able to utilize three to four resources to effectively support my position. Thus, instead of throwing all the class material to me all at once, this class has taught me how to develop an argumentative paper step by step and provided me with a much stronger knowledge base about argumentative essays. However, writing argumentative essay is a challenging process. It requires a lot of thinking, researching and organization in order to create a well written paper.…
