Dunking has been the highlight for the National Basketball Association (NBA). Dunking is not as easy as it looks, it takes time and practice. Dunking isn’t just a physical game but a mental one as well. To start off, feet placement and technique are a basic role in dunking. The player needs to gain speed rather than lose it, if he or she stutter steps, they lose speed or it may even mess up their technique. So it would be a good idea for the player to pace out steps or find a good range he or she can gain speed. Next, you need dorsiflexion, or when the player places his or her feet, their toes line up with the shin. This will allow the player to step properly and help he or she jump off the ball of their toes. Next is a core and leg exercise for basketball players.
With this the player uses most of the leg muscles, and core muscles. This helps the player reach maximum height. Next we will be taking about muscles that can help the player jump well. The first one will be a squat. There are multiple squats, but they all do the same thing. In a squat a player needs to go down as far as the can with a bar and weights on each end. Calf raiser are when a player holds anywhere from a 20-45 lb. weight and goes up to their toes and back down to their feet but do it as slow as possible. The last and final exercise is the typical suspect, jump roping. Jump roping is a good leg and core workout. Roping helps the legs by helping the player have a good balance.
