All offenses on the above discipline plan are considered to be Level I offenses and should be handled by the classroom teacher.
** All teachers will EXPLICITLY TEACH the school rules and procedures during the first 10 days of school. Teachers will use the lesson plans designed to correlate with our school plan as well as other character-building materials. The URGENCY of following the school rules and procedures should be instilled from DAY 1 and followed on a consistent basis throughout the year. When a student breaks a rule, they are NOT a bad child, they have just made a bad CHOICE. When students learn the rules and procedures this thought is internalized and self-discipline can develop!
Rewards and Consequences
Point System
• Students earn 10 points per day. • Each offense from the school wide discipline plan will result in a loss of 1 point. • Each missing homework assignment/signed papers will result in a loss of 2 points. (Responsibility!) • At the end of each day a student’s points balance will determine what color level they earned.
Color levels will determine a student’s rewards or consequences for the next day. Rewards Recess School Store Privileges Recess Consequences None

Nine Weeks Treat: “Purrr-fectly” Exemplary Behavior
Students who earn 438 to 450 possible points for good behavior during a nine week period will participate in rewards similar to a trip to Skateland, Westlane Bowl, or a pizza and play day.
* Teachers will adjust points when we are out of school. (Subtract points for bad weather days.) **Please remind parents and students that losing 2 points everyday is NOT exemplary behavior. Exemplary behavior is 438 to 450 points each nine weeks. Students earning 360 to 437 points may still have very good to good behavior on their report cards.

Each time the students perform an in-class or out of class activity there is an opportunity to not only provide a standard procedure that assists in time management, but also to incorporate a number of other skills that the children can master. Two such in-class activities are reading groups and computer use. When students gather for a group reading activity there are many procedures the students must follow. Students must stand up from their seats, where they are seated in groups of four, and individually each group will be called to the designated reading area. Students are allowed to sit where they please as long as they follow the rules. To begin, a brief discussion of the title of the book will take place with the students and a question/answer session on what they think the book will be about.
