The FBI has a vetting process that is sole purpose is to determine whether someone may be a suitable agent. First, one must have a proper schooling; the FBI’s requirement for schooling is at least a bachelor's degree (Welcome). Although the FBI only requires a bachelor's degree, it can be a higher degree. The FBI also suggests getting a degree in a field or interest to the FBI, such as cyber security, homeland defense, or criminal law (Welcome). Having a degree in a related thing to what is being worked on in the FBI could help get the job. One must have patience when applying for the FBI; the FBI interviews friends and neighbors and checks up on all past education to make sure all the requirements are met (Smith). The FBI does this to ensure the applicant is the right person for the job. Education definitely helps one get the job as an agent, however, the FBI makes it very easy to catch the eye of a…
Out of all the Security agencies that were researched, the two that have been chosen was Pinkerton Security and the Federal Burial of Investigations (FBI) which is a part of Homeland Security. Starting with Pinkerton Security they would be classified as a Level IV because they can deal with a vast majority of situations that occur in their client areas. Their personnel can be deployed wherever they are needed in a short time and have a very clear governing intervention and enforcement powers. “Pinkerton Counseling and investigations has a very deep knowledge in the core investigation areas such as Fraud and Financial Investigations, TSCM (de-bugging), Electronic Discovery, and Workplace Violence Protection.” They also provide support, resources, and provide their expertise to smaller agencies.…

Special agents are affiliated with the FBI, but at a different level, the special agents deal with terrorism, organized crime, and violations. The main role of these types of agents is to investigate to find out what the crime is and who did it in the shortest time as possible. According to Aurelio Locsin, “Their daily jobs are never the same. Their tasks can cover a range of activities including investigating white-collar crime, examining intelligence from terrorist cells, upgrading computer technology to nab malicious hackers, or arresting corrupt politicians”(Locsin). In other words, Locsin believes that Special agents deal with a lot of different duties everyday and that it is not an easy job to handle. He also explains some of the jobs that they affiliate with and as you can see they are all related to computer technology. These types of agents also get paid a salary of $47,297, but that is at the bare minimum of what Special agents get paid. The criminal justice field is open to many opportunities; one of the things I want to go into is Police Patrol Officers. The main task of a patrol officer is to protect the life of others and their property. They are assigned an area in which they have to enforce the law in. This job has a certain amount of basic requirements like, you must be a United Sates citizen, at least 20 years of age, and must pass a certain amount of physical, oral and pyscological test. Most local and state departments require you to do a 12 to 14-week police academy training. Private security is a rapidly growing and changing field. Much has changed since its beginnings and much will continue to change in the coming years because public law enforcement will be unable to meet demands of a growing society. “Private security is not a new concept. Security forces existed long before a paid police force. Private security has a long history starting in medieval times when knights protected lords and ladies. In the colonies all able-bodies men were to stand a citizen’s night watch to protect the community from invasion and fire. ADT was formed in 1874. It is still today one of the largest alarm companies in the country. Washington Brink formed Brinks armored car service in 1891. In 1895, Allen Pinkerton was the first law enforcement officer hired to protect interests of the railroads. It was the private sector that the first SWAT unit was formed in 1899. Rangers would arrive in a special baggage car that carried eight men and horses. When a train robbery would occur these rangers would chase robbers on horseback. William Burns founded his international detective agency in 1909” (“History of Security,2013). Private security in this country has a distinguished past.…
