Dynamic Corporate Social Responsibility: Apple, Inc.
Marcello Montrone
INTRODUCTION The social psychologist Kurt Lewin (1890-1947), once wrote: “There is nothing as practical as a good theory”. According to this saying we tend to consider theory very important and that it can be helpful to guide us on the correct way. This doesn’t state that practice is not important as well. Therefore using a good balance between theory and practice can help to save cost and time.

In fact, nowadays businesses are asked to show their role in such issues and in the last two decades there has been a significant growth in the number of enterprises which have specified their policy on CSR.
In this paper I will cover the theoretical prospective of the Corporate Social Responsibility. Starting with some of the major definitions, I will evaluate and explain how, where, why and to whom CSR is influencing the world communities nowadays. I will support my conclusions referring to Apple, Inc. as a practical example evaluating the recent issues from their suppliers in China. This multinational company has lately entered the phase in which CSR has become critical to its business, trust and reputation.
In the second section I will highlight Apple’s old CSR policies and those practices evaluating how they have implemented the CSR strategy. In addition, I will introduce the concept of Shared Value explaining how this attitude will probably represent the key aspect to take into account to improve CSR strategy.
