The police officer wrote in his records, no job. This scene is talking about how the police officer doesn’t regard a writer as a job. This scene is important because this shows what is considered right and what's wrong, the code of conduct pretty much. The People in this society have removed certain job, so the job Mr.Mead had was obsolete. When Jonas starts talking to his father about whether he loves him, his mom is say that the word has no meaning. The character is showing that few words were removed from the dictionary and society. The word in obsolete. This matters because this scene shows what adjustments were made in the society to make it “better”.
