Dystopias In Fahrenheit 451
Dystopian stories are made for one significant purpose: to entertain. However, why do people find dystopias so interesting? Humans are naturally curious, even if this curiosity means foreshadowing a future full of book-burning, drug addicts, or complete idiot domination.
These dystopias are a way of assessing and examining our own governmental flaws, and advancing against these flaws to ensure a healthy and safe future for our world. Daring and suspenseful dystopias, such as Fahrenheit 451, A Scanner Darkly, and Idiocracy all shine light on the danger that government control has on citizens.     Fahrenheit 451 was a futuristic novel written by Ray Bradbury in the 1950s. In this new society the government rules and citizens are expected to obey the rules. Guy Montag, the main character, is your average man: a firefighter who is living happily, or so he thought, with his wife, Mildred, and follows the rules set in place by the government. He was average until a girl, Clarisse, helped him understand the value of knowledge therefore, allowing him to see the truth of society.
