In the video, teachers at Jeff High School described the benefits of differentiated instruction in their classrooms. Throughout the video, teachers praise the use of differentiated instruction and how such a method has helped them to reach out to their their students different pathways of learning and utilize their strengths in their own multiple intelligences to make material seem interesting to them. The video described some examples of differentiated instruction in the classroom. For instance, the English teacher at Jeff high school used it during her class to get tactile-kinesthetic learners engage in learning. Many instructional approaches exist that have been developed to reach more students. Teachers have to select the instructional approaches that work best for students. These approaches have been tested and researched from various theoretical perspectives. An education theory is the speculative thought or education and just like any other theory, it explains, guides, and describes the practices of education. The earliest speculation on educational processes began during the times of classical sophists Greek philosophers. Current education speculations use terms like and rogogy, curriculum, learning pedagogy, education organization, leadership, and policy. Education thought is derived from various disciplines like, philosophy, sociology, critical theory, psychology, and history among others. This paper will discuss five topics based on the best education theory to be applied in the classroom setting with focus on two education theories…

Differentiated instruction in the classroom can be beneficially for every child’s needs to learn to their best ability. Differentiation means tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. Whether teachers differentiate content, process, products, or the learning environment, the use of ongoing assessment and flexible grouping makes this a successful approach to instruction. No student learns the same and differentiation is helping each student grow and succeed by meeting each individual needs. Whenever a teacher reaches out to an individual or a small group to change his or his teaching to create the best learning experience possible, that teacher is differentiating…

Differentiation in the classroom is a tricky thing for a teacher to try to implement in a way that is beneficial for the student learning and effective in the use of time and energy by all. On page 5, Fitzell states that the lack of differentiation in the secondary classroom is “that students who move on to college, whether to engineering coursework or a technical school, primarily know only one mode of studying.” This is an issue for all high school teachers to consider to make sure that there are a variety of learning styles being addressed during the learning process in order to make sure that students are prepared to study for a variety of different academic environments in the future. I have tried to differentiate in my classroom by allowing choices on assessments and centers of different study about the same topic or possibly even different topics.…

Reigeluth defined instructional theory as, “identifying methods that will best provide conditions under which learning goals will most likely be attained” (Driscoll, 2005). Instructional theorists have long debated what conditions stimulate and motivate learning. Two of the originators of learning theories are Robert Gagné and Benjamin Bloom. Gagné believed that conditions of learning must be in place prior to instruction. Moreover, Bloom views learning as a hierarchical progression where instructors develop goals and outcomes in their instructional design to engage the student. Each theorist has common and contrasting views about how learning occurs. In addition, both are credited for laying the foundation for instructional design.…
