All of my days on this planet, I have dreamed of being a professional musician. I’ve been taking piano lessons for about ten years now and I see it as the only route to satisfaction in my life. Teachers, fellow musicians, and professionals constantly stimulate this dire need to create for the rest of my life. I play drums, piano, guitar, xylophone, and I also strum the vocal chords. I plan to audition for Berkeley among many other music schools next year, but even if I don’t succeed in making the auditions, I still plan to continue writing and spreading music for the rest of my life. Scouting has helped me in this regard in many ways. Technically scouting doesn’t have a very significant connection to the arts, but it has shown me many other concepts that I’ve utilized in maintaining a self motivating and ever-evolving life. Scouting has first showed me that to gain an experience in the world, you must try new things, that might be out of your comfort zone. I’ve learned how to truly help other people along with gaining self confidence in the things I was doing. To explore, camp, and spend an extensive amount of time with a group of boys for over 10 years has also exposed to me to the comforts and discomforts of confinement. I’ve learned to cope a variety of situations, and it’s only rounded my understanding of human nature and my place in

In my youth, I hated music. I hated how other kids my age were out having fun while I stayed home on the piano bench. I hated the monotony of completing exercises every day on the piano: twelve major scales, and thirty-six minor scales, forty-eight arpeggios, and chord progressions in twelve keys for a grand total of 108 different permutations. After all, what was the point? This wasn’t going to land me a job anywhere. Little did I know that this was my future. It is October 2015 during halftime of a football game. The band director bores through the amalgamation of fellow band students then sits behind me on the edge of the wet bleachers. He speaks rapidly to me about the upcoming musical production and the necessity of a keyboard…

    NJROTC Reflective Report

During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve observed people playing music around me. My family is musically inclined, which I believe is the reason I’ve been drawn to it. In 2006, I began taking guitar lessons but I never had much interest in playing. Things changed in 2009, and I wished to be different. I wanted to be good at something so I began to teach myself guitar and have stuck with the guitar until now. In 2010, I began to play on my church’s worship team and I enjoyed it very much. I have now been a worship leader for the past four years and it’s something I love to do. I love it so much that for the past two years I have gone to Camp Electric to improve my skills. Camp Electric is a rock and roll music camp where musicians pick an instrument and they participate in workshops with that instrument. This camp is filled with people who love music and who love playing music. I have such a passion for playing that I have begun teaching guitar lessons and now I am expressing music with my patients in order to achieve a goal.…

My leadership experiences position around a distinct premise. I shall attempt to define that premise from my viewpoint. Under the direction and suggestion of my grade school Saint Margaret Mary, volunteering in our community was inspired. Although there were no opportunities to serve in leadership roles during this undertaking, I had always embraced leadership. As a son of a Marine, I grew up with a solid sense of duty and service, in addition to a first-hand knowledge of leadership qualities.…

During the summer before my senior year of high school, I was involved in one of the most influential opportunities I had ever encountered. I was given the chance to volunteer my time at Schneck Medical Center. I chose to volunteer in the rehabilitation department; this helped fuel my desire to want to become a physical therapist. While at the rehabilitation center, I got involved in multiple positions that taught me how to be a better leader and how to successfully use teamwork. Working in the office taught me leadership roles. While in the office, I had to check the patients in for their appointments and paged therapists for their appointments. This position showed me how to take charge and make sure that things in the rehabilitation center…
