"Eagle"- a descriptive prose I wrote for my English class
A pair of sharp piercing eyes, a pair of might broad wings, a pair of spiky clenching claws, and a crooked beak. It's a brown-coated eagle that appeared in my eyes as I glanced into the deep blue sky. Soaring up high in the sky and piercing through the air solitarily. It circled around the tall, steep cliffs, gazing on the ground with its fierce and piercing eyes.

Down on the ground, a small bunny hoped swiftly from one bush into another. How innocent and sweet it was. Abruptly, an acute cry from the eagle high above disrupted the placid sky, I looked up once again, and the eagle holds back its strong wings and thrusted itself, plunged downwards towards the ground like a crashing plane. The little bunny by its instincts scurried to a rock for cover. Just in a matter of a split-second, the eagle arrived right above the bunny, stopped abruptly, and outstretched its strong claws and clenched onto the bunnys tender body. As fast as lightning, it soars back towards the blue sky victoriously with its prey, lands on a cliff and starts its meal.

The cute bunny called out its last helpless cry, glanced at me. I fell sorry for it deeply in my heart, but I couldnt do anything to help it. I witness its final breath as the eagle stabs straight into the bunnys neck with its knife-like beak. My heart is filled with pity but my strong curiosity allows me to observe the stonehearted assassins ruthless acts.

It impaled its beak into the bunnys body mercilessly and repeatedly, cutting and hacking its body and bowels as it swallow the bloody flesh. Blood gushed from the bunnys body crimsoned it. Its body is tore into fragments by the eagle. Eventually I couldnt bear the gory scene anymore and left the bloodthirsty assassin consuming his unlucky prey.

As I observed his ghastly shadow I saw that he was over 8 feet tall. He had huge claws so each on looked like a dagger itself, ripping and tearing at the flesh of my fellow companions. He had long horns that curled inwards like a rams horns. He had a long, scaly like tail that swung and whipped in the air followed by a flop on the ground in a joyless motion, as if it too, like the monster, was thrilled to taste the succulent human blood flowing over the tongue and trickling down the throat.…

Looking down at my predicament, I saw a steep vertical drop that led into a crystal clear river that flowed between two main opposing canyon slopes. Everything below comprised of layered rocks, cliffs, hills, and valleys, with the occasional hint of green pine trees and plenty of bushes. The air was rich and clear at the same time. A subtle, cool breeze grazed through my thick wolley jacket and reminded me of the potential coldness of mountain weather. The sun brightened at that very moment and heated my cold body. Soon, the sun light spread throughout all of the rocky lands and gave everything a red-orange hue. “Wow what is that!?” my cousin exclaimed. Everyone turned their heads upward. Far into the clear blue sky, a pair of eagles gracefully maneuvered around a puffy white…

In “Chickamauga”, Ambrose Bierce begins on a sunny afternoon in autumn, describing the sense of freedom, and in a sense, gaiety, felt by a descendant of a strong, proud, and conquering race quickly leads to the dark and troublesome events which are the natural fallout of wars anywhere, the casualties and destruction, both military and civilian (343). Originally this small boy is depicted as a conquering warrior, whose mighty sword has the ability to slay imaginary foes that leads him on a mighty chase both through the woods and across the creek. Until the proud victor turns to return from whence he came, only to find himself confronted by a much more corporeal foe than any he had fought, a rabbit sitting bolt-upright in the middle of the path back to the creek. He is so frightened by this animal that he turns and flees into the woods, losing direction in the brush.…
