Early America Research Paper
In modern America most people live carefree. People in America are free, for the most part, to do whatever they want and have no fear of repercussions of their actions. Of course our modern American society is not perfect there are still people without shelter, discrimination lurking in the shadows and uncalled for violence happens almost everyday in each state. As a whole America represents courage, unity, and strength, however this was not always the case. In the beginning America, while similar in some ways to the present, was a very different place. Many of the foods we eat and enjoy almost every day were not readily available, not all races were not treated as equally as they are now and even they animals and livestock we are used to were not in America in the past.
First, American foods that are often seen as staples in America today were not even native to America in the first place. Fruits like apples, grapes, oranges, and strawberries all arrived from faraway places brought to the early Americas by settlers, and meats such as chicken, beef, and pork all arrived from Europe as well. This is because in the past early America only had small turkeys, llamas, guinea pigs and bison as their

While it is true that in today’s world there is still tension between the races particularly between blacks and whites there is still a vast improvement from the past. In the past African Americans were kidnapped from their homes and taken to the new world to be slaves on large plantations. These slaves worked without pay and were only compensated with meagre food to eat and horrible living conditions. Slaves had no rights and were not treated as people, because of the color of their skin slaves were treated as lower than a dumb animal. Slaves would continue to live this way for nearly a century before their freedom was granted and it would still be a long fight ahead to grant full rights to all people of

Colonial Williamsburg is an open window into the past, as it depicts many significant social and political groups. This educational museum, which is the biggest living one on Earth, has had plenty of significant historic structures that have benefitted leaders and the citizens themselves. Bruton Parish Church, the Capitol, the Governors Palace, and the Magazine have all had important roles in the past, but which one is important enough to be made into a commemorative coin? Although every one of these buildings were crucial during colonial times, are relevant today, and reflect on the motto, ” That the future may learn from the past.” , the Magazine deserves the spot for holding a majority of the soldier’s weapons, stating independence, and explaining how and why people used and organized their weapons.…

I have e-mailed you, and I have set up an appointment to discuss the choice I should make concerning my topic for this research paper and presentation. I have always been interested in American history, but it seems as though I never gave much thought to the particular time period in which I am most interested. I have concluded however, that I do not know much about Colonial America. Every time I would sit down and begin to delve deeper into a topic I believed I might want to write about, I would realize that it did not fall under that “Colonial” category. I am interested in the study of the history of women, and I know that until the Women’s Movement of the 1960s, not much had been…

Though we have become better, racism is an issue we still come across today. Something that was meant to mend the conflict ended up backfiring strongly, but we have come a long way since then. As each new generation grows up, they begin to filter out the bad memories of the war. Today, we have a president that is black, we have the same opportunity for education, and the same rights. The people had suffered because of our ignorence to focus more on reuniting the states rather than giving justice to the people. At a glance, out nation has grown warmer since it's inception as a free nation. Although freedem is not a destination, but a journey, the journey during those dark times made freedom barley a concept. We reflect highly on those who fought for equality, but still it seems as though the war is not yet…

During the 1800’s, America had multiple relationships with other countries during that century. For instance, they had many problems with Spain, which led them to have to create the Pinckney’s Treaty. Imported in from Africa, through the slave trade of the 16 and 1700’s, enslaved Africans became the back bone work force for the American south for almost 200 years. The founding fathers excluded them completely from granting them any rights what so ever, most of which even owned numerous slaves. It was not until president Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860 and stated the emancipation proclamation thus freeing slaves and igniting the civil war. Although free from that point of slavery, African Americans were not granted equal protection of the law and granted full legal rights until the civil rights era almost exactly 100 years after the civil war. This led to major race relation problems in America today. We constantly see in the news today, true or not, police targeting blacks much more than any other races throughout the country. Yes we have made massive strides in this specific realm, the hypocritical foundation of our country will always affect how we as us citizens interact and climb the social…
