After graduating from Ashford University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development; , I am hoping to obtain a job working in the Public school system alongside the Pre-k teachers in implementing programs for Pre-k or become an owner of a childcare center. The nature of families and children in relation to society is important for my profession because in order to help improve the childcare center. I also hope to develop programs for Pre-k that children and their families will benefit from. I first need to know how the child’s family has a big impact on the child’s life and their ability to function in society. Not knowing anything about the child’s background, I feel like I won’t be able to do my job as best to my ability and give the child the appropriate guidance that they need to be successful. Every child is different and part of that comes from their family and home environment. This is what makes them unique and they bring that uniqueness to the classroom. Before we can try to understand the child we first need to understand the child as a whole, their background and family life.…

This is because, although the ECD programme functions to set the vulnerable child up to fulfill their developmental potential, subsequent risk but also protective factors may respectively work to prevent or support the continuation of the beneficial effects of ECD programmes, and likewise negatively or positively affect their development, in the long-term (Britto et al., 2013; Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000). As such, interventions cannot only be focussed on early childhood if the long-term power of the early interventions is to be sustained and enhanced. For example, continued support provided during the transition to school may help to sustain and enhance cognitive gains resulting from ECD programmes (Gomby et al.,…

Introducing families and individuals to services and programs allowing a more improved quality of life such as the early identification of developmental delays and disorders in early childhood, and increase access to evidence-based resources for children with or at risk for developmental delays and disorders gives families a reason to believe and gives them a sense of hope. Being able to enhance young children’s healthy growth, development, and identity formation through high-quality early care and education and evidence-based home visiting programs is a great benefit for those who may not have the opportunity to find programs on their own and who may be eligible to get subsidized care with paying practically nothing out of pocket. Also, being able to reduce poverty amongst families can mean so much for those who are less fortunate. I do believe there is a lot to work on as far as funding goes for these programs but with the right amount of research and funding I believe these goals are more than…
