To save Captain John Smith, Pocahontas saved him by putting her head between Smith’s head and the club about to kill him. This kidnapping happened because the relationship between the Native Americans and English was at a bad point. Something needed to change, perhaps an alliance?
The expectations of the English settlers were high, they expected an easy trade route in the Indies (according to the book-Jamestown and the New World Pg. 75). Colonists also anticipated ”savagery” going in with the idea that people there would most likely be hostile is a bad attitude and will not get them very far. They also expected none of their civilized norms for example in the beginning houses, the same way of life as in England. Next, that the majority of their expectations, not all will be fulfilled. Lastly, that’s Capt. John Smith was the best thing that happened to Jamestown he pulled everyone together and saved them all. The rest of the colonists need to follow in his footsteps. The developments that showed the colonies trying to apply the lessons are John Smith kept peace with the Indians by trading with them. When John Smith had to return to England the colonists failed at learning from Smith they stopped trade thus resulting in an abundance of death.
