I have both bad and good experiences in primary school. I was in pre-kinder that my mother became an active participant in my education and how important it was to become an active reader that she even bought the Disney encyclopedia. It was not until I was in first and second grade that I became
an active reader because of the AR program they would give prizes and a pizza party to the top readers so, of course I wanted to be part of. I could also recall the book fairs that the librarian did once or twice a week to get us to keep on reading and be motivated of owning a book. I felt excited of the thought of owning more books that I even asked for an allowance. It was not until third grade through fifth that I was made aware off not being a good reader as I thought I was. They would correct me for mispronunciation, call out to read out loud, taken out of the class for extra tutoring, after school tutoring, and summer school for reading and writing. All of these demotivated me to continue reading or even write.
