What is the difference between deductive and inductive reasoning?
Deductive reasoning is a basic form of valid reasoning. Deductive reasoning, or deduction, starts out with a general statement, or hypothesis, and examines the possibilities to reach a specific, logical conclusion.
In deductive reasoning, if something is true of a class of things in general, it is also true for all members of that class.

What is the difference between a hypothesis and theory?
A hypothesis is a proposed explanation or model of an event, phenomenon or process. There may or may not be evidence to support it, but it has not been tested or widely accepted.
A hypothesis becomes a theory when it has been tested and accepted generally, and is used as a basis for further examination of the subject of the theory. The theory is then becomes the model.
