Earthly Riches In Macbeth
We have seen how he started off as a noble, brave servant to his king; to a violent, vicious person trying to gain earthly riches. Particularly, as I look at the character traits of Macbeth and the internal struggle he had between immorality and earthly riches; I couldn’t help but to compare his situation to any of us today. We as Christian have many internal battles; whether they are between our earthly possessions and Christ or our own immorality and earthly riches. We can all relate to Macbeth in some way. As I read the play, I learned that earthly riches is not worth my soul. We can reflect throughout the play how Macbeth choose earthly riches over his immorality. At the time, it might seemed like an acceptable choice but Macbeth did not consider what will happen to him at the end. Towards the end of the story, Macbeth did accumulate everything he wanted, in result of that he had no one to share it with. A valuable lesson learned here is every wrong choice comes with a consequence. In conclusion, the prophecies the trio witches proclaimed to Macbeth came true and animated his curiosity about how he can reign over Scotland. Also, the influences from his wife, Lady Macbeth degrades his character as well. Therefore, Macbeth is an example of a tragic hero who in the end, ended up very unhappy with the decisions he

We first see the evidence of Macbeth as tragic hero when the beginning praise by Duncan about his military skills proves it. Also, the witches, when they speak to Macbeth and Macduff they only merely predict what will happen, never in anyway do they ever actually influenced Macbeth to do anything. Macbeth is aware of what he is doing and he is in full control of his actions. Once he gets what he wants, the crown, he is far from happy. He is unable to trust anyone and no one trusts him. This is then able to portray the tragic hero that Shakespeare created from…

Despite Macbeth seeming noble and courageous towards the court, I, as a reader, am knowledgeable of his true feelings and do not feel sympathetic towards him. He does not fulfill the definitions of a sympathetic literary character that I carry in my mind, as he is aware and in control of his evil intentions and actions. In Act I, Macbeth’s initial reaction to the prophecy is murder, and his eventual commitment to the act showcases his true character as a murderous but independent…

In Macbeth, the sequence of events is quite different than you might expect. Macbeth (the protagonist), begins as a man who wants to end the rule of the evil King Duncan by slaying him. At first, we see him that as a headstrong, brave and intense hero and we begin to root for him. That is until Macbeth kills Duncan in way that demonstrates his lust for power. This further proves Shakespeare’s desire to explain heroism as a potentially destructive journey rather than a challenge ridden path with a happily-ever-after ending like many of today’s predictable stories of…

Greed is the excessive desire to acquire or possess more, and it is also one of the biggest creators of tragedy. This is so vividly shown in both the novel The Sun Also Rises and in the play Macbeth. In The Sun Also Rises, this greed is directed toward a person, Lady Brett Ashley. Five men; Mike, Jake, Pedro, Bill, and the Count, are fighting to be with her throughout the book. In Macbeth, this greed is directed toward power as Macbeth wanted to become King, and what he does to become it. However, this greed led to the collapse of each character. Lady Ashley left all five men, leaving them devastated, while in Macbeth; an opposing army overthrew Macbeth. In both stories, greed drives the main character to do something, which is then achieved, but eventually leads to the fall of him. The Sun Also Rises and Macbeth, greed causes the ultimate downfall of the main character.…

William Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth is an unfortunate one. Although Macbeth does take the actions that lead to his downfall, he is not fully responsible for his behavior. After encountering three witches who foretell the future for him, he desperately wants to believe what they say since everything they told him is good on his part. It is said that the witches were just figments of his imagination. In either case, the prophecies told act as a vehicle to plant ambition in him which then leads him to be greedy with his new found happiness, lie to all those he trusts, and eventually to multiple murders.…

Macbeth may be a tragic-hero because he matches Aristotle's definition for a tragic-hero. Macbeth is a courageous man with high rank, as he is the Than of Glamis and Duncan's cousin. The olny thing Macbeth is concerned with is power. Macbeth is the star of the play, the whole story is focused around his rise and fall from power. He, more than anyone displays the idea that people only do what they do to benefit and further themselves. Then when he becomes king, he continues to cause the deaths of those around him in fear of losing his newly acquired power.
