There is no doubt that transportation technology has a variety of models as there are number of choices of machines from leading manufactures, such as Caterpillar, Volvo, JCB, Hyundai, Doosan and etc. Selecting a type of the vehicle depends on the company needs. For some, highly demanding operating conditions or the need for the latest technology innovations make hiring brand new equipment a virtual necessity. For others, the need to keep costs to a minimum or to hire several machines at once makes renting used equipment most sensible and economical option. Caterpillar has a variety of vehicles such as excavators, graders, tractors, dozers and etc. In this work I will differentiate between the wheel excavator M318D and the track excavator 329D.
The M318 D is a CAT wheel excavator having an engine of C6. The maximum travel speed is 37Km/h. It comes with several work tools which are designed to provide best performance such as excavation, extreme excavation, excavation leveling, ditch cleaning and quick coupler. In addition to that it has outriggers to prevent tripping over. The best part of the wheel excavator is being a road off transportation.
On the other hand, the 329D is CAT track excavator having an engine of C7 which is more powerful comparing with the M318D. However the travelling speed is 5.3 Km/h which is slight slow with the M318D. It has also the same variety of working tools in addition to the ripper tool that helps to break out rocks and other difficult to excavate material. What is more, it’s equipped with a product link, allowing monitoring the machine from a remote location. Transportation of the machine is needed as it cannot be driven on road.
Despite above features of both machines in terms of prices for the M318D renting varies from 150 8 hours/day and the purchasing price is 85,000 RO. However if it goes
