Eating Disorders: Similarities Between Anorexia And Obesity
Anorexia and obesity are both problems about weight and eating, but they are opposite eating problems. Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves in order to be thin. On the other hand obesity is an eating problem where people eat too much and are overweight. Both anorexia and obesity hurt you psychologically and physically. Anorexia and obesity are dangerous diseases to live with, but if people had the choice in their opinion they would chose to be obese. Anorexia is an eating disorder that makes people lose more weight than is considered healthy for their age and height. People with this disorder may have a great fear of weight gain, even though they are underweight. Anorexia is worse is than obesity because anorexia’s psychological effects are very bad. Some of the effects are that anorexia makes you starve yourself to be thin, and it makes you have low self-esteem. Anorexia also makes you over exercise, it makes you feel the need to enter into depression, and suicidal. Being anorexic can make you secretive about the condition, so you don’t go out socially. Obesity is not the same as being overweight. A person may be overweight from extra muscle, or water, as well as from having too much fat. Obesity is bad in the physical effects because it has so many harmful diseases that comes along with it. Many obese people feel ashamed, and rejected because many people judge people by appearance. Obesity also causes people to slip into a depression. Some obese people have relationship problems, social problems and are discriminated by others. Many obese people have low self-esteem and body image issues. Obesity is hard to recover from for most people because there is a lot of weight to lose. The road to losing this weight involves dietitians, doctors and family. With the support from family and friends obese people can start a healthy plan to lose
