Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience about the benefits of eating healthy.

Central Idea: Eating healthy is beneficial to the mind and the body. The biggest benefits of eating healthy are that we will stay physically fit, feel better, and have fewer illnesses.

Attention Getter: We are living in an unhealthy world! In our society today it seems like all we do is eat out or order in. That kind of eating habits on a regular basis can be very damaging to your body and mind. Preview: I would like to talk to you about the great benefits of eating healthy. Having a healthy diet helps maintain and improve your health in different ways. A proper diet helps boost your energy levels, improves your bodily functions, and helps to improve your immune system. By eating a healthy diet, combined with exercise you could end up leading a longer and more vibrant life.

Transition: First, let’s discuss how eating right can boost your energy levels.

I. the healthier our diet, the more energy we have.
II. Stable energy levels provided by high quality nutrition keep us going throughout the day.
1. "Food is fuel for your body, and some foods provide better fuel than others," says Tamara Melton, RD, a wellness nutritionist who advises the employees of Children 's Healthcare of Atlanta.
2. The body converts food into energy through a process called metabolism. The energy in a food is measured in calories. Carbohydrates and proteins contain four calories per gram of food, and fats contain nine.
I. The key to eating for energy is to understand the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates.
1. Complex carbohydrates are like time-release capsules — the energy boost they provide is slowed down by a natural “capsule” of fiber.
A. Instead of depending on quick caffeine or sugar fixes, you’re better off going for healthier options, like complex carbohydrates
2. Simple carbohydrates, on the other hand, is absorbed directly from your stomach into your bloodstream.
A. Simple carbohydrates are found in naturally occurring foods like fruit juices and honey and in processed foods where the fiber capsule has been removed.

Transition: Next let’s talk about how a healthy diet can improve your brain functions
I.There are many foods which help the brain function properly.

1. Fish is regularly high in omega-3, to help restore fats your brain needs to function. Nuts and seeds also help keep the brain healthy. Vegetables can improve your memory and protein can help you feel more alert
2.A healthy diet that attends to the specific needs of the brain may help neurons to achieve the most desirable chemical balance naturally. The brain being a hungry organ depends first of all on a healthy liver and gastrointestinal tract to use food well: to properly absorb nutrients and deliver them to the brain, to remove toxins and to maintain proper immune system activity

Transition: Another reason the considering eating healthy is that it helps to improve your immune system.
I.Eating healthy foods will make you enjoy a strong immune system and you will be free from sickness

1.According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Poor food choices can have a negative effect on your heart; but making small, sustainable changes to improve your diet can have a lasting impact.

2.There is a lot of misinformation about what foods are or aren 't healthy, so it may surprise you to learn that you don 't need exotic fruits, imported nuts, or even expensive supplements to take care of your heart.

Conclusion: Once you implement a healthy diet, you will be surprised at how fast you will start reaping these rewards. The benefits of eating healthy will continue to reward you for the rest of your life. Eating healthy food will provide you with a whole lot more benefits than these talked about.
