People tend to pay as much attention to food as they do brushing their teeth. I urge you, however, to take a step back, slow down, and really think about the food you eat. Eating is a complex thing. It may surprise you. And when you actually think about eating, you will eventually come to think about eating meat. This is no accident, meat has it's pull on humanity. And on our world. The choices we make matter. According to the best-selling author Jonathan Safran Foer, eating the meat we know "is certainly the single worst thing that humans can do to the environment"(457). Foer has been recognized by Rolling Stones Magazine and Esquire for his many accomplishments. In one of his works, "Against Meat", Foer covers the relationship of meat and…

Remember that nice juicy steak you had for dinner last night, well chances are that, that steak contained antibiotics that are the cause of many of the superbugs in the news lately. There is a lot of controversy around the use of antibiotics in livestock and the risks or benefits of using it, but for the most part the risks outweigh the benefits. Our large corporate ranch in northwestern Montana should not use antibiotics in our feed because most of it wouldn’t help the livestock anyway, antibiotics are already over used, and there is a growing market for antibiotic free meat.…

I’m interested in this recommendation because it’s an argumentative recommendation which raises a controversy and my deeply thinking about whether it can be done or not. It seems to be an irresistible trend for people who care about environment and recycle; they try to cut down the times of eating meat from animals and save water at the same time. In addition, the obesity rates also goes up year by year and that’s why many nutritionist and doctors advise people eating more natural food rather than animals’ meat. From the point of view of nutrition, it’s a good question to be discussed too. And since modern people pay more attention to a healthy diet, the trend of eating less meat is also becoming an upward tendency. Some people indeed think they can gain enough from vegetables and fruits. I think for this recommendation, people should consider both pros and cons in order to get a comprehensive…

Living in the heart of the western American mountains, meat plays a big role in the generic lifestyle. Many families obtain their meats through recreational hunting, and fishing. Turning twelve in our community means that, you can now get your hunting license and go out with dad every weekend starting in September. It is safe to say that more than the majority of the families that live within the Bitterroot Valley consume a high percentage of meat, every day, for nutritional benefits as well as personal preference. It is the generic ‘western American’ thing to do, sit down with the family on a Sunday afternoon, say grace and eat a burger. One of the biggest holidays around, Thanksgiving, revolves around the harvesting, and consumption of meat. However there is another lifestyle that I feel is important to consider. If I could make a change in my community, big or small, I would choose to provide more vegetarian and vegan options for families to work into their lifestyles.…

The icon that represents fast food culture for most people is McDonald's, though the fast food culture developed long before the creation of that restaurant chain. Schlosser considers the impact of such fast-food chains but also considers the primacy of the hamburger in the American diet and some of the dangers it poses. McDonald's reliance on hamburger is a questionable item for a steady diet in a more health conscious age, and interferes with local customs and food in different parts of the world. Schlosser addresses this issue from several perspectives, beginning with a consideration of how safe the meat really is, not only on the basis of nutritional value but also on the basis of additives, preservatives, diseases, and even potential radioactivity. Some beef is considered questionable, and much of it makes its way through the USDA to school cafeterias…
