The title is derived from the Hebrew (Qoheleth). The word Qoheleth is translated into "Preacher" implying a religious function. But this book does not reflect the content of the function. Therefore, some scholars propose as an alternative translation teachers, although this word did not succeed in fully capture the basic ideas embodied in the Hebrew term. The freedom of Qoheleth offers us is freedom from ignorance and foolishness; freedom from the illusion of surety, security and permanence; freedom from the mad drive to protect ourselves from the vicissitudes of life through the pursuit of money and possessions. He teaches us how to navigate the chaos of life without hiding behind a false sense of order , imposed either by ourselves by nature or by God. Qoheleth’s God is not the regulator of chaos, but the creator of it. The way of the God (Elohim), as Qoheleth calls reality does not eat us out of chaos, but into it.
