WHY POSITIVE
PARENTING?
It is important to be a positive force in a child’s life. Being a positive parent can provide children a strong sense of stability selfimage, self-esteem and wellbeing.
Being a good role model as a child’s parent provides inspiration and can encourage positive behaviors in children.

How to positively counteract unpleasant and challenging child behaviors
Temper tantrums are very common occurrences in child behavior especially in the first years of life. Temper tantrums are reactions that children display because they are not yet fully equipped to express their feelings in positive and mature ways. Toddlers are just learning how to communicate effectively and their ability to express frustrations are commonly displayed through tantrums.
To avoid and reduce tantrums it is important to maintain patience and consistency in not giving into the child. In order to promote non-tantrum behaviors it is best to find reasonable compromises and allow the child to make mature independent choices. For example if a child wants to bring a toy and you the parent do not want it brought into an establishment make a “deal with the child by prompting them to make a choice. Say
