DGHG - CCResort

Business Analytics Department’s (BAD) Report

Executive Summary:

The Business Analytics Department has compiled this report based on data supplied by DGHG. The purpose of this report is to use this data to answer several key questions set out by DGHG, along with providing information as to whether the company has been meeting its key performance indicators, as set out in the business plan. The questions this report will primarily address, are as follows:

* More than 40% of DGHG’s customers stay for a full week (7-days). * The average customer spends over $255 per day in excess of accommodation costs.

The data collected depicts a sample size of 200, taken from that of recent customers whom have stayed at the upmarket CCResort. This sample size is large enough to adequately represent an accurate assessment, although a larger pool of data would further improve the accuracy of this report.

The following findings are pivotal in describing the sample of observations provided by DGHG: * 69% of the sample have a total family income over $100,000 * On average, there were 4 people per booking. * 68% of people are spending between $188 and $286 per day in excess of accommodation costs. * The average customer spend per day in excess of accommodation is $237.36 * The total spend per stay is highly dependent on the length of stay with total spend increasing as length of stay increases. * The majority of people making the bookings are over the age of 40, with on average, 4 people per booking. * 51% of bookings are for a full week (7 days).

Business Analytics Department recommends that DGHG: * Focus offerings of the resort, above the basic accommodation, to the target market of people ages 40, with the average spend consistently being higher. It could be inferred that persons under the age of 40 have a lower disposable income, and are slightly more prude with spending than those over the age of 40. * As

AJ Davis department store has asked to take a look at a sample of customers (sample size: 50) in order to more efficiently generate sales and also appeal to their more profitable segment. In order to better understand their customers a statistical analysis and interpretation must be performed. AJ Davis is hoping to achieve insight on how to improve their department store operations and strengthen their customer loyalty. We have taken both quantifiable and qualitative information and have performed descriptive and inferential statistics on the data collected. We do have to disclaim that these are only from a select few from the customer base and does not represent the entire population. Therefore, the interpretations based on the sample group need to be kept in perspective and must not assume complete representation of all customers. After the collection of information from their sample set we have been able to perform statistical analysis and the results are reported below.…

A closed economic system is an economic model that only uses domestic exchanges of goods and services. The foreign produced goods and services that are bought by American households as well as factors of production acquired by American businesses from overseas owners are not included in the closed model. An example of a closed economic system would be communism. An open economic system is different from a closed economic model because this model includes all of the factors in a closed economy as well as the factors that come from foreign economies. These factors often lead to some sort of tax being paid to the government. An example of this type of economy would be capitalism.…

In the United States, the capital share of GDP is about 30 percent, the average growth in output is about 3 percent per year, the depreciation rate is about 4 percent per year, and the capital–output ratio is about 2.5. Suppose that the production function is Cobb–Douglas, so that the capital share in output is constant, and that the United States has been in a steady state. (For a discussion of the Cobb–Douglas production function, see Chapter 3.) a. What must the saving rate be in the initial steady state? [Hint: Use the steady-state relationship sγ = (δ + n + g)k.] b. What is the marginal product of capital in the initial steady state? c. Suppose that public policy raises the saving rate so that the economy reaches the Golden Rule level of capital. What will the marginal product of capital be at the Golden Rule steady state? Compare the marginal product at the Golden Rule steady state to the marginal product in the initial steady state. Explain. d. What will the capital–output ratio be at the Golden Rule steady state? (Hint: For the Cobb–Douglas production function, the capital–output ratio is related to the marginal product of capital.) e. What must the saving rate be to reach the Golden Rule steady state? 8-2. The women of Wolosovia stay at home performing household chores, while the men work in factories. If some of the women started working outside the home so that the labor force increased by 5 percent, what would happen to the measured output of the economy? Cost of air travel (Airline Ticket Prices, per textbook): The cost of air travel is another important factor that influences lodging demand. This is because that the low cost of air travel attracts the huge customers to consume the services that influence the lodging demand positively, while the high cost of air travel facilitates the customers to avoid the consumption of lodging services (Stutts 2005). Hence, it influences the lodging demand negatively.…
