Hochswender’s essay is quite compelling and persuasive to me. I noticed how Hochswender identified the aspects of the good and bad potentials of possessing a SUV. In the essay, Hochswender addressed critics’ claims that SUVs are directly related to terrorist group funding. He created pathos in appeal to drivers of SUVs in his arguments by making an emotional plea to safety and addresses critics about terrorist groups. Also in the essay he had some negatives and positives of driving SUVS. As a SUV driver, he gave a logical reason and example of SUV safety and dangers. “The well-publicized notion that SUVS are an actually unsafe, based on their tendency to roll over, does not take account personal responsibility.” He said “I would prefer that…
In 2000, tragedy struck as all EV-1’s were recalled. In 2003, California’s zero emissions vehicle mandate was killed and General Motors officially closed down the entire EV-1 project despite the long waiting lists and positive feedback from EV-1 drivers. This terrible crime did not go unnoticed by the public. Consumers were outraged by the recalling of EV-1’s. They wanted to know why someone would get rid of a car that would help out the environment and would make things better for the future. Someone is to blame for killing the electric car, but who? Was it the big oil companies and their fear of losing money? Could it be the battery technology in the EV-1’s that was faulty? Maybe, it was the CARB (California Resources Board) who did not want to support. Chris Pine, the director of, “Who killed the Electric car?” Says that all these factors are to blame.…
25. What are SUV owners less likely to be doing, than owners of other kinds of family vehicles?…
The stasis question that this most appropriately responds to is “What actions should be taken?” because the sticker is suggesting to SUV owners to switch to a more eco-friendly compact car to reduce the harm that SUVs are causing. It is intended to influence reducing the sales of these unpatriotic vehicles, as it is un-American to own one.…
America’s fleet of vehicles has been solely reliable on fuel until the past 10 years. Today, vehicle companies are competing against each other for the pride of having the greenest car. Many people in the U.S. are happy with the cars they drive. They go fast, they are big, and nothing seems to be out of place. So why should rental cars use alternative fuels? This is the question being asked to Lotus Rental Cars CFO. By performing thorough research, the consultants will first present a comparison between gas vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles. As we progress through this essay, we will explore all the great alternatives modern technology has to offer, and the benefits of each.…
I think environmentalists are right to be concerned about the environmental impact of SUVs, because, for example, the Ford Excursion emits a lot of carbon dioxide which can add into the cause of global warming compared to using a lighter car with the same interior room. Toxic chemicals emitted into the air can threaten plant and animal species in the short and long run. The market demand for bigger SUVs is or was rising. People like to travel in big cars for comfort and relative safety. Also, maybe they like to be "king of the road." Many people are not very aware of the impact that these SUVs have on our…
I would like to compare a car and a truck. A car is very comfortable to drive in for long trips. A truck is rough and bumpy to ride in but it can haul things like a mower or a washer. Like a truck a car cannot haul big and bulky things like a mower and washer. But for dirt roads a truck would be more durable than a car because a car would just get beat to death on a dirt road with wash bored. Also when someone is stuck in the mud or snow you can pull them out with a truck but not a car. When you get in a wreck the truck will take better collision than the car because the truck is so big and bulky. The car can be faster than the truck it can take corners faster and is small but can't carry a whole lot of weight before it tips…
Jeep currently has in production. Individually this amount has a low impact, but multiplied by everyone making this small choice in purchase could move mountains ecologically. Last year, 1,512,500 people in the state of California got a driver’s license last year. If half of those individuals chose to drive a hybrid instead of an SUV, then more than 17,393,750 MPG could be saved. Numbers can start small, but they can always…
I felt very confident in the purchase made because of the great financing rate and it was a nice car but I was a little apprehensive about changing from a SUV to a car and sometimes still wonder if I should’ve purchased another SUV…
In today’s society there are many “personal choices” we make that we feel only affect us. But in reality we are hurting our society by the actions we do. One of the ways is driving an SUV. (Sport Utility Vehicle) It might be big, can haul a lot of stuff and make you feel safer on the road, but in reality, it’s bad for the environment, bad on the economy, and can cause accidents which put others at risk.…
There are a lot of places in the world where one can go to bask or have good time. There are also ways to go to those places, such as in cars, planes, trucks or trains. People from our society do not have much money to buy those expensive machines, trains nor planes. Today´s generation merits enough to buy cars or trucks depending on what is going to be the purpose of it. No everyone likes the same type of transportation, but most of them like cars more than trucks. In this essay there will be comparing car vs trucks and how they are alike in the interior, exterior and the engine.…
Honda’s approach to launching the “Element” came as a bit of a surprise in that their approach was not what one would describe as traditional in the auto industry, they tried to appeal to their target market through a carefully thought out process of understanding what their young customers would like in a small SUV, and also using the SUV in a matter that their customer potentially would; hikes, traveling, moving, etc.…
Findings- customer believes that the brand name tells them something about product quality, utility, technology and they prefer to purchase the passenger cars which offer high fuel efficiency, good quality, technology, durability and reasonable price.…
This assessment will focus primarily on the use of alternative fuel vehicles at Lotus Rental Car’s, discussing the advantages and disadvantages of alternative fuels and the impact it will have on the American public. With gas prices increasing daily, renting a vehicle is becoming a fast growing decision for families going on vacation and people who make their living traveling from place to place. Families can no longer afford to rent large RVs and pay outrageous prices for fuel. Salespersons and businessmen cannot either. Big companies are no longer willing to cover the whole cost of fuel, but rather a percentage which digs in the profit for these businessmen.…
Challenging every car company in the world, fuel economy, quality, and of course cost. How would the world be with out vehicles of various forms as a form of transportation? A question we all may have to soon figure out with out cars the world wouldn't have as much pollution sure but how are we gonna get some where safely, reliably, and quickly. Basically in the United States of America there are two types of cars, imports and domestics imports meaning being shipped or flown from other countries to the United States, domestic meaning being built here in the states. In the world seventy four percent of vehicles are cars and SUVs twenty six percent are commercial and light trucks. Of these only fifteen percent are produced in the United States eighty four percent are produced in other countries such as Japan, China, Germany, and Italy (worldmeters.info). The EPA (environmental protection agency) has strict regulations against what vehicles are imports and which are domestics they say how much emissions are let out of a car how much the vehicles weighs in order to be under a certain s classification (motortrend.com). Emissions are the fumes let out by cars these fumes have supposably helped lead to the destruction of the earths ozone layer emissions include carbon dioxide, nitrogen gas, and water vapor (wisegeek.com). Sports cars are undoubtedly the most recognized automobiles on the planet. Nothing can compare to the sights and sounds of a sports car as it passes by you on the expressway with its quick burst of speed. Imports, or foreign sports cars, are becoming increasingly popular in today’s automobile market. With the number of American consumers driving Hondas, Nissans, BMWs, and Mercedes, the reputation of imports is becoming more and more encouraging. Because of the widespread belief in the dependability of foreign sports cars, they…
