The former was the first topic debated as the morning was off to a slow start when the delegates of Barbados, Guyana, Cambodia ,Iran , Argentina together submitted their resolution. Several amendments were made to the resolution such as to strike out clause 7, sub-clause d, which was to encourage shared criminal database between countries , arguing that it might jeopardize national security . Votes were raised and the amendment was rejected 11 for and 12 against. Similarly , amendments were made to strike out clause 9 which suggest to utilized the public’s assistance in identification of illegal smuggling operations through special observational training, which succeeded in gaining an overwhelming response to do so . The delegate of Sweden then took the stage and analogued the resolution to “swiss cheese”-full of holes and urged member nations to focus on economic development by improving the agricultural sector. The suggestion received a landslide vote for the amendment. A unmoderated caucus was called and the delegates returned full force to futher voice their opinions. Clause 6 was suggested to be striked but was heavily opposed but other delegates . Meanwhile two sub-clauses were added to clause 1 which were for the assisted countries to send biannual reports to the develop countries and be verified, on the basis that it would help boost their economy. The amendment too passed by majority vote . Time soon elapsed and the resolution as a whole was passed .
