Individual businesses must work in partnership with other organisations in order to be successful. Tourism is a very competitive and complex sector and many companies develop links with other businesses as a way of maximising profits. If for example Thomas cook didn’t work with other hotels, insurance companies, company picks up on arrival, Thomas cook wouldn’t make any profits, as customers wouldn’t want to book a holiday with a company who don’t take out insurance, which if an accident happened they would have thousands to pay with no compensation. Also if customers were to book with a company who didn’t book with certain hotels, you could end up anywhere without any information about it. Whereas if Thomas cook have interrelationships with hotels they are more likely to be safer and nicer hotels, meaning customers trust Thomas cook knowing the hotel is good one. This increases profit due to more repeat purchases.…

Not only is it our job to protect Canada's wild spaces and Canada's places of historical and cultural interest, it is a necessity that will benefit the natural environment greatly. The natural resource industry and the creation of jobs need balance, the preservation of wildlife needs to be enforced, and the people need to become immersed in the natural environment and all it has to offer. Three policies that would benefit the country as a whole include; the prevention of overexploitation of natural resources by promoting sustainable development, promoting ecotourism rather than mass tourism, and immersing tourists into diverse cultures and the natural environment.…

Velondriake is a region consisting of 25 small villages located in southwest Madagascar. It is situated approximately 150 km north of the regional capital of Toliara and 45 km south of Morombe. The area is characterized by long white beaches, lagoons and coral reefs along the coast, unique spiny forests, bird life and a distinct Vezo culture. Velondriake’s location is very remote and accessibility is limited by poor roads and infrastructure. Madagascar’s southwest coast supports some of the largest coral reef systems in the western Indian Ocean. These reefs do not only provide critical habitat to thousands of marine species, but are also essential to the cultural identity of the indigenous Vezo people who rely on healthy marine resources for food, transportation and income. However, coastal populations are growing rapidly and international fishery companies have begun exploiting the region’s waters through a sophisticated collection network to supply an expanding export market. As a result local fishermen have reported declines in the size and number of their catches in the last years.…

The Philippines is a considered as a fast growing industrial country but is still predominantly dependent on agricultural production. However, agricultural production has been on the decline due to continuous conversion of agricultural land into residential, industrial, leisure and commercial lands. Moreover, the continued dependence on synthetic commercial chemicals has led to the loss of fertility and productivity of the soil. Over the years, however, there has been an increase in the swing from conventional to organic agriculture. Organic agriculture, seen as a niche agriculture sector, is promoted as an effective and sustainable approach to food security, farmer’s profit instigation, and resource management. Aside from organic farming, the Department of Agriculture welcomed agricultural activities that encouraged active in the preservation of the environment, such as agriculture tourism and ecotourism as an additional initiative for agricultural development. Locally, the La Top Organic Farmers’ Multipurpose Cooperative (La Trinidad Organic Practitioners MPC) has been a recipient of different assistance to promote organic farming as a viable agricultural production practice. With the development assistances, La Top was able to be a successful model for organically produced goods and evolved into a trainer, consolidator, marketing arm and as a standard for authentic organic vegetables in the province of Benguet. Despite all these successes and recognition, information on the benefits of organic farming has not been widespread. Conventional farmers are still hesitant to shift their farming production techniques. Objectives and Methodology As an alternative means to promote organic agriculture, tourism was identified as a pro-poor initiated system that can highlight the potential economic opportunities of organic farming. Recognizing the opportunities of tourism, the project “Replicating La Top Success through Capacity Building and Alternative…
