epic poem is a long, narrative poem that is usually about heroic deeds and events that are significant to the culture of the poet.
An example of this would be Beowulf; which is an epic poem because it tells of his battles against the Grendel and his mother.
2-Narrative is a poem that tells a story complete with a narrator and many characters; usually written with a metered verse although not always rhythmic.
An example of this would be the Poetic Eddas.
3-Ballad is a narrative poem that tells of a person or event, it usually is rhymed and has a repeated refrain and is often sang by the reader.
An example of this
would be the song, “ The Ballad of the Green Berets” which tells of the story of a special forces soldier who was killed in battle.
4-Haiku poems are a three line, non-rhyming verse with five, seven, and five syllables and usually about nature.
Most are Japanese in origin. Basho Matsuo is considered to be the father of Haikupoetry almost all of his haiku’s are related to nature in some way.
