The Witches could be blamed for the outcome of this play because they told Macbeth that his destiny was to become king. One of the witches says “All hail Macbeth that shalt be king hereafter (Act 1, Scene 3) .This is a quote from the play that suggest that it could have been the witches that could be blamed for leading Macbeth towards the outcome of the play. They got into Macbeths head that it was his destiny to be king. Although the witches might not be able to be blamed because they did not say in order to be king you must kill these people so they don’t get in your way whilst you’re trying to make this happen. Another reason for the witches to be blamed is the part in the play that Macbeth sees the dagger. The witches could have made the dagger appear before Macbeth which is a sign; the witches wanted Macbeth to kill King Duncan. “Is this a dagger, which I see before me, the handle towards my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee no, and yet I see thee still… a dagger of the mind, a false creation…” (Act 2, Scene 1). This quote which is taken from the play uses imagery to create what Macbeth is seeing through the audiences eyes. Macbeth says “the handle towards my hand?” which could mean that the witches are telling him to grab he handle, the blade could be an arrow of direction towards King Duncan.
Lady Macbeth could also be a suspect for the outcome of this play. She told Macbeth that if he didn’t kill King Duncan the he wasn’t a man and made him believe that he wasn’t committing a bad deed it was the best thing for them. Shakespeare’s uses character and plot construction to make Lady Macbeth at first seem like a loyal, kind and caring person, but he also uses the construction of the plot to make Lady Macbeth also look like she influencing Macbeth on his actions.
“And fill me, from the crown to the top, top-full of direst cruelty!” .Shakespeare uses language to create characters such as Lady Macbeth. In her monologue she says the word cruelty which has a negative connotation and makes her seem evil. She says “fill me… top full of direst cruelty” which means she wants to be as bad as possible so she can make Macbeth kill king Duncan.
Lady Macbeth was trying to get her way through Macbeth, she so desperately wanted to become queen and thought that it would be better getting someone else to do the dirty work whilst she sat back and relaxed. She wanted to be more masculine so she was more capable to take care of the situation herself. Lady Macbeth then realises after a while that the situation has gotten out of hand and she had taken it too far, she then committed suicide leaving Macbeth all by himself with no guidance.
Macbeth’s actions could be to blame for the tragic ending to this play but was he in the right state of mind to be blamed for it. Macbeth got the idea of killing king Duncan from the witches but then decides it is the wrong this to do ad he might get caught. Then Lady Macbeth comes along and says, no you have to do it, if you don’t you are no longer a noble man you once were. Macbeth then changes his decision to kill King Duncan. As you can see when reading the play, Lady Macbeth influences Macbeth a lot in this play by manipulating him and calling him names. Later in the story after lady Macbeth uses powerful language to deal with Macbeth’s uncertain mind, Macbeth sees a dagger right before his eyes. He knows that it is a false creation and is not truly there but he also knows that this could be a sign. It could mean that it is his fate to be king, or that it is his destiny to kill King Duncan. But it could also just be that Macbeth is not thinking straight and isn’t in his right state of mind. “…Come, let me clutch thee” (Act 2, Scene 1) Or maybe Macbeth wanted to kill all these people, maybe he was a cold blooded murderer all along.
I don’t think that it is possible to sum up who is actually to blame for the tragic outcomes of this play and all characters have reasons why they should or shouldn’t be blamed for the outcome. People may think that because of the actions someone makes it is their entire fault, but I don’t think that should be right. Macbeth could have had mental issues and just did what people told him to do. Or maybe he was too afraid to take control and listen to what his own brain was telling him. Shakespeare makes the audience question who is to blame throughout the play and I believe that this question cannot properly be answered. All together I believe that Lady Macbeth is to blame because she takes control of the matter, calls Macbeth names so that he has to prove to her that he is a man.

They persauded Macbeth to kill people only because they wanted to be benefited. they were selfish and not worrying that they would soon turn Macbeth into a crazed lunatic The witches delighted in chaos and toil. They did not tell Macbeth what to do but they simply showed him what can happen through their prophecies and the apparitions they showed to Macbeth. Macbeth could've been a perfect target for them to bring about this chaos. Macbeth is a strong soldier, he has killed enemies in war, and perhaps the witches knew his true nature("by the prickling of my thumb, something wicked this way comes..."). The extent of their influenced is demonstrated through their predictions, they are temptations and a form of flattery which Macbeth eventually gave into. On one hand, Lady Macbeth has the far greater influence because she is Macbeth's wife and they share a passionate relationship together. Just like the witches she flatters him, but this time it is a direct flattery and a direct temptation towards him. As far as Macbeth being changed into a diffrent person, he himself is responsible for his own actions. The final decision lies within him and this was demonstrated when he carried out the murder of King Duncan. Lady Macbeth acts as the catalyst for Macbeth. Macbeth realised that he would have to commit regicide (stars, hide your fires; let light not see my deep and black desires), but he was unwilling to do so. Lady Macbeth changes his mind by attacking his manhood, despite the brave acts he has commited as a soldier. She also flatters him shamelessly. The murder of Duncan sets Macbeth on the trail of evil, as he didn't consult his wife when he killed Banquo and Macduff's family. He didn't even care when she commited suicide. The story of Macbeth, an inherently good man who is slowly poisoned by the evil acts he commits to further his ambition, is a classic Shakespearean tragedy. Macbeth is first seen as a loyal, brave man, but as the play progresses, he begins to be overtaken by his darker side, partly due to the encouragement of his wife, Lady Macbeth. As Macbeth rises to power and gains the title of King of Scotland, both he and his wife become increasingly unhappy and feel extreme guilt for the murders they have taken part in. The play culminates with both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth dying, showing that evil actions have their consequences. However, though both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth were responsible for evil in the play, the witches (who told Macbeth that he would be king one day) were the ones who initially planted the seed of ambition and violence inside Macbeth. The witches are most responsible for the evil in Macbeth due to the fact that Macbeth would not have committed the murders if the prophecy had not been told.…

In many disastrous situations in life, people direct blame away from themselves, saying that their problems were caused by others. This happens in one of William Shakespeare’s plays, Macbeth; there is a great deal of debate over whether the witches, Lady Macbeth, or Macbeth was most to blame for the chaos that took place throughout the play. There are many things that influence Macbeth and his actions, but he himself is most to blame for the calamities that take place throughout the story because he willingly let himself become an overly ambitious, paranoid, corrupt, and murderous tyrant. At the beginning of the story, when Macbeth and Banquo are returning from battle, the witches prophesize that Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland.…

To begin with, Macbeth is blameworthy, to a certain extent; one cannot dispute that fact. Macbeth evidently does desire countless things and by that, he is extraordinarily greedy. His greed is seen throughout the book, especially towards the end of the book, as when he says, “Hide your fires! / Let not light see my black and deep desires!” (I.IV.58) Macbeth is a king that rules with an iron fist of sorts; he greatly desires supremacy and authority, which, in due course, lead to his death. His ever-growing yearning for power is also seen in the seemingly senseless killings of Duncan (and his guards), Banquo, and Macduff’s children and wife. These impulsive deaths, however, are the fault of both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and cannot be blamed on fate or the Witches. The Witches merely make suggestions about Macbeth 's road to kingship; they did not make spells that would make all of their predictions true. These interpretations led, but did not force, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth to kill Duncan and secure his title of “Thane of Cawdor”. Later on, Macbeth chooses to kill Banquo; this again was not the fault of the witches. Thus, the witches cannot be blamed.…

The witches could foretell the future, they can add temptation, and influence Macbeth, but they could not control his destiny. Macbeth created his own misery when he kills people. This causes him to become insecure, because of the reasons for his actions, which in turn causes him to commit more murders. The witches give great enticement, but in the end, it's Macbeth's decision to fall for the temptation. The three Witches are only responsible for introducing the ideas to Macbeth, and putting the ideas in his head, but they are not responsible for his actions throughout the play. However it's more realistic to believe that Lady Macbeth, Macbeth's ambition, and his own responsibilities ended it for him, not the witches. Lady Macbeth is shown early as an ambitious woman who can manipulate Macbeth easily. This is shown in the line That I may pour my spirits in thine ear(I,V,26). She is selfless, and wants what is best for her husband. Before the speech that Lady Macbeth gives in act one scene five, Macbeth does not want to go through with the killing of the king. She manipulates Macbeth's self-esteem by playing on his manliness and his bravery. Macbeth has the final say in whether or not to go through with the killing, but he loves Lady Macbeth and wants to make her happy. Lady Macbeth is the dominating individual in the relationship. It seems that she can convince him to do anything as long as she pushes the right buttons. Macbeth's ambition is present before the witch's prophesies. He would never have thought seriously about killing Duncan without the witches. But the combination of his ambitious and the witch's prophecies leads him to kill the king. Lady Macbeth even says,Thou wouldst be great/ Art not without ambition.(I,V,80-81). Macbeth also says, his besetting sin: I have no spur/ To prick the sides of my intent, but only/ Vaulting ambition. Macbeth's ambition is shown while he waits to have a succession of kings after him. Macbeth has a lot of ambition in him…

The witches are not responsible for the most evil in the play because they do not force Macbeth to act on his prophesy. They do not even try to persuade him to believe that his prophesy will come true. The witches are only responsible for telling Macbeth the future. Macbeth forces the witches’ prophesy to come true with his irrational actions. The prophesy states that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and king of Scotland. He becomes Thane of Cawdor after messengers tell him that the old Thane of Cawdor was killed for inciting a rebellion. Earning this title makes Macbeth believe that if the witches prophesy was accurate enough to predict that he would become Thane of Cawdor, he would become king of Scotland as well. The ambition to become king consumes Macbeth’s thoughts. The witches did not tell Macbeth that he had to kill the king to wear the crown. The witches don’t influence Macbeth or Lady Macbeth.
