E-Democracy: Development of Electronic Voting System for STCS

Democracy is a form of administration by citizens. Citizens have the sovereign power to administrate the country by themselves or elect their fellows to act as their representative in the administration, which are members of parliament. By this mean, one of the basic features of democracy that cuts all across broad diversity of people is the act of election.
According to the rule of law, democracy encourages individual freedom in order for people to behave and express themselves as they choose. Likewise, it is not only giving the citizens the chance to choose their leaders but it as well freely express their views and thoughts on issues.
In the 21st century, nations aim at new and improved voting procedures which are of relevance to election for the new modern era. This response to the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights which puts significance on the necessity of free elections for the people (Salomonsen, 2005). As time goes by, the manually voting process has been influenced by the fast growth of
Information Technology.
Through the adaptation of the digital environment, the voting process has been provided with several benefits, This sort of benefits are not only bringing simplicity yet as a pioneering task that allows the state to secure a dominant position in the market for e-democracy systems.
E-Democracy system is the outcome of E-Democracy development which acts as an automatic tool used to support citizens and related stakeholders in their participation in the democratic process. The development of e-democracy must be defined by the stakeholders like the government to be one of the regulations for its vision, mission, strategy, plan and policy that can be correctly constructed. This leads to the needs to develop a right e-democracy system which will truly meets the citizen participation
