Edmund Pevensie and Eustace Clarence Scrub are two very important characters from two separate books in The Chronicles of Narnia series. They each undergo their own trials and tribulations and learn from them in vastly different ways. By doing so, they each emerge as stronger and wiser men in their own right. While their journeys are each diverse and unique, they are also very similar in a multitude of ways.
Edmund begins his journey as a greedy, self-entitled, deceiving bully. It is because of these terrible faults in his character that he is so easily swayed by the White Witch. When he first arrives in Narnia, he is in utter denial and tries to explain logically how they could have gotten there to the disdain of his family and travel companions. He stumbles upon a magically-charmed bracelet that turns him into a dragon, a creature that he has never heard of since he has never read any fantasy books and cares not for unearthly tales or beings. Thanks to this dramatic change of form, he can no longer speak and must try to convince everyone of his identity and peaceful intentions through actions alone, a very difficult task when swords are constantly drawn against you. However, unlike Edmund, Eustace was not tricked into becoming a dragon nor did he betray anyone. His shame and despair as a terrifying beast force him to reflect on the content of his character, and through this he develops strength and morality. He manages to save the ship and the crew that he had sailed into Narnia with while still in the body of a dragon. Along with an intervention from Aslan, he is turned back into a human and earns respect and friendship from his travel
