I have experienced a few different types of charity events previously in my secondary school life such as raising funds for breast cancer awareness, school facilities and many others. However, for Moral Studies this time, I’m involved in a charity project along with my classmates to raise funds for non-profit organizations. Therefore, we had chosen Ti-Ratana as our target to raise fund for. Our main concern is to collect funds to support the orphans and old folks.
For this event, we had to organize a sale to raise as much funds as possible so that we are able to buy more stuff for them. We had created a group on Facebook as it is convenient for everyone to discuss on what to sell and how much to sell. In the end, we have decided to make some bookmarks and also some orange juice for the sale. We set up a booth for a day in front of Monash library and it lasted from 0900 to 1500. We took turns taking care of the booth and selling our products as some of us had classes in between. Although it was tiring and time consuming, it was a fun experience as we get to learned quite a lot of things from this event and the bond between us grew stronger.
At the end of the day, we have made a total profit of RM160 for donation. Although the amount we targeted wasn’t meet, we were grateful enough, as it is still able to help the organization one way or another. One of the main reasons why we did not reach our targeted profit is because there were not many students in the campus as it was a summer break. We added up all our profits including the other three groups from our class to buy four electric kettles for the organization. Later on, we paid a visit to the orphanage and old folks’ home and we helped them to clean up their rooms. It was definitely a pleasant experience helping them out. In conclusion, I wish to thank all my group mates for the cooperation and we all had fun together.

The event was successful, however I feel the Society can increase student patiicipation significantly. I believe tangible prize in conjunction with the gold, silver, and platinum status awards will increase student pmiicipation. For example students reaching platinum status receives at-shirt; students reaching gold status receives a key chain; and students reaching silver status receives a logo pen or pencil. The Society can use sponsorship funds to purchase the prizes. I believe the prize expense is insignificant compared to the additional student participation resulting in our ultimate goal to increase donations to support our funy friends in our…

Three years ago my friend Amy and I were looking for a way to bring customers into Behm’s Sawdust City while helping the community. After about a month of throwing ideas around Amy came across an advertisement for Toys for Tots, and we decided that this would be a great way to bring people in and help the community. Little did we know that it would be a huge success! Every year we have had to become more organized. The first time we get together we decide on what band we are going to try and book and where we are going to ask for donations. Next we split up and go to different businesses and individuals that have donated in the past or may want to donate this year. Finally we advertise for the dance and start looking for volunteers to help.…

Learning is a natural ability that is wired into many animals DNA; the way that humans should learn has been debated by the various educators because of the endless ways to teach. Teachers and parents take this matter seriously like Ralph Waldo Emerson in “From Education” and Todd Gitlin in “The Liberal Arts in an Age of Info-Glut” who created essays on education; and Billy Collins in “The History Teacher” entail for then and who wrote a poem concerned with the status of education. These people show what the importance of education is entailing what learning should and should not involve; a teacher should respect and have patience for children; a teacher should also let a child have creativity and lessons of the past.…

One year we decided to feature the African culture for our fundraising. We put together a fashion show, dance and skit; we also provided food to our guests. Throughout the event, we emphasized the importance of lending a hand to those in need. We had pictures of children in need throughout the hall; we also had ushers that were going around discussing the topic with our guests. I was very impressed by how generous and caring the guests were. Not only were we able to raise $5,000.00 for the cause, but we were able to recover the expenses of the event. This fundraising event was a testament of…

Higher education is critical in a developed economy. In most developed countries, education is considered a basic right. Hence the costs of higher education is highly subsidized by governments. This results in a significantly reduced number of students that need to work to pay for their education. The United states is one of the few counties, developed or otherwise, where the almost all the burden of paying for higher education is put on the student. This has certain interesting consequences. One of them is the relatively large proportion of college students working. The increase in tuition in the past decade have cause this to increase even further. In “For Many College Students, A Job (or Two) to Pay Tuition”, an article in the New York Times, DAVID KOEPPEL found that every year, more students were looking for an campus jobs. New York University employed 2000 more students in 2003 compared with previous years. The percentage of college students working has been growing since the 1906s (Stern and Nakata, 1). How this affects students and whether or not students should work therefore have become increasingly important questions.…

Once in a great while, I think back of my school days. Frankly, I didn’t work as hard as I should have done, but I really enjoyed my schooldays. My parents respected me and let me do the things what I want. They just believed me and waited. As time goes by, I slowly realized what I really want, and I started to make a plan of my goal. This experience made me to think how parents positively affect the development of children, and I finally arranged my ideas. In this paper, I’d like to examine why parents force their children to do any kind of activity in their leisure time, and how does it affect on them.…
