From the beginning, I only talked about how people can be educated by getting education from school. But, I also believe that people do not necessary to learned and be educated by others. Nowadays, people can learn anything by themselves from the internet. For example, my major is computer science, and I can learn programing from the internet and practicing on my computer. Or when I talked about how I improved my English skill by reading lots of book. Or according to Learning To Read from Rereading America, Malcolm X gave details on how he learned words, and practice his writing skill by copying words from dictionary. “I had written so much at one time, but I’d written words that I never knew were in the world. I am not saying that getting education from school is not necessary, but there is something that cannot be teach in school. In the article of Education as Lived Experience, Randy Schultz and John Hultsman, explains that education can be split into two interpretation. The first interpretation is called educational experience. This will provide people’s knowledge through discreet encounters. The second interpretation called the experience of education, which people’s knowledge will build off from experiential knowledge.     Although many people believe that knowledge is gained through the average educational facilities, this is not always true. It is through experience, which is a form of empirical knowledge, that we actually learn and gain knowledge. “Experience is the accumulated pool of observations, associations, habits, skills, and judgments from which we draw recollections, hunches, expectations, and so on” (Dunn 53). This is the basis of everything we know. For example, we do not know that a stove is hot until we touch it, and it causes pain to our body. Through sense perception, we learn that we should not touch a hot stove, and therefore gain that knowledge. The education we receive in schools is not considered knowledge without experience.     Everyone needs some sort of schooling to be successful in life. In school, students learn to read, write, process thoughts and ideas and apply knowledge to outside situations. No one can argue the point that school and education aren’t necessary, because the thought is absurd. In my opinion though, school had become a competition instead of an education. Students have become so focused on being the best in their class, having a GPA a hundredth of a point higher than their friend, being involved in extra-curricular activities, and obtaining as much knowledge to the point of just memorizing rather than understanding. Believing that an average public school education will give you the knowledge you need to be successful in everything that you do in order to make a living is an incredibly false perception. Schooling gives you an education which sets a foundation for like, but how will you live if you’ve never had to think about living?
