EDUCATION IN INDIA AND CURRENT YOUTH SITUATION

This essay is from the experience on the field which I have faced during the field work in various schools. This report contains the present condition of schools in Tamilnadu. This will also showcase the problems that students face in the name of education and also how the powerful Media acts as a barrier for the Education.
Education is now said to be one of the primary needs of the society. There was a huge reverse when some leaders like Mr. Kamaraj took over the position of Chief Minister. The Mid-day meals scheme is one of the best schemes in the country which was an initiative by Mr.Kamaraj. But now due to different discriminations and other deviations, education is now becoming a business and privatization works in here too.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” says Nelson Mandela but now education has become a business to earn money at large.

ASPECTS:

Education is now becoming a dream for many poor youngsters. The students who are enrolling with the higher studies after their higher secondary schooling is rather so low comparing to school education. Government has brought compulsory pass scheme till 8th standard in all the schools all over the state though it creates interest on education to some deprived students it also motivates the students not to work hard for the future. In a document which has been sent to the Government Schools the authority has asked the Head of the school to submit the list of 9th students who can easily write and read in Tamil, in a state of Tamilnadu and its state language if students are not comfortable especially in village areas then how can we expect the students to learn other languages.

Education has to create students into well-developed and talented. Well-developed refers to the capability of creating new ideas and theories and to understand the life and challenges that they are going to face in future. But nowadays students are only forced to study and write there are also no proper recreational sessions in the schools. Every student has some talents. Talent doesn’t mean good grades or good in studies because everyone is studying hard. There is no flow of knowledge, they will know whatever written in the book and they will pass it from one generation to another like an ancestral property but the real joke is that they will never understand a thing about it.

In most parts of the country education is now becoming a rich man show. The RIGHT TO EDUCATION is only in the books and not in the society. Most of the girls after the class tenth are forced to get married. The Government has provided one higher secondary school in 10 kilometers. Though it lacks good infrastructure the government has the best teachers by the recruitment. But the facilities do not attract the students to enroll.

Many government school’s condition is so bad that even the people working in it tend to admit their children in the private schools. The government schools lack in infrastructure and also in the quality of education. The private schools are given specific norms to be followed when they construct the Schools but what about the same norms for the government schools,

Is it only for the private schools?

The division in the educational system is also a big problem for the students. The difference systems such as State Board, CBSC, ICSC and IGCSC, these create a huge discrimination among students when they enter into the university level education. It also results in the loss of dignity, and creates conflict.The Government plan of Free Laptop, uniform, food, stationary goods, cycle etc… Has not only helped the poor but it has created a laziness in the minds of the people.

Suggestions

With all these situations, why not government schools be taken care by a MNC or other small scale industries depending on the size in the name of CSR activities, though it is now followed but the government should make it compulsory for the industries to take care of the standard of schools. It will also help the schools to gain good infrastructure like the private schools and also it will improve the standard.
The government should also introduce the culture and heritage oriented subjects to improve the folkways of the society. Nowadays the culture and heritage of the country is becoming a worthless thing.
The value education and moral studies should be mandatory for the students. It is said that if there is proper awareness for the students then there won’t be any criminal activities. Impact of Media on Students

On the other hand the impact of media over the students is so vast, the cinema culture is spreading so largely, You can’t find a group of youth in political party but can find youth groups from school level in Hero Clubs Ex. Rajni Fans Club etc. All the discrimination and motivation to engage in the harmful activities starts here. For example, the showcase of usage of alcohol in the cinemas is now becoming a trend but it creates a impression in the minds of the students that youth should consume alcohol, there are also some movies which showcase love relationship during school time this not only gives motivation to the student but it also gives ideas to the students on how to get into such activities, but the sensor board nor the Government is not taking up any step to rectify all these issues.

CONCLUSSION

Though the UNITED NATIONS has brought in a MDG to take care of Education there are many countries which has not attained the goals which the UN expects.As victor Hugo says “He who opens a school door, closes a prison” the education is the stepping stone for the tolerance and peace in and out of the homes the education should be motivated at large and should be fair.
