1.1 Obtain and review feedback from others on performance
Starting by its own definition feedback itself is all about analyses and consequent reaction or response to a certain information, context or product. It usually involves someone’s performance or refers to an executed task in which the main goal is to create space and basis for improvement. Feedback is essential for goal pursuit and the information on successful and failed actions allow us to adjust and direct our efforts to match current and upcoming challenges.
Being able to provide effective feedback is critical to maintain a capable and coherent team or developing personal motivation in the work environment. A main component of the feedback process is acquiring accurate information to fuel feedback decisions, obtaining relevant data and feedback from credible sources, as well as enhancing the validity of the feedback by gathering information from multiple sources. The more accurate the information gathered, more accurate will be the subsequent decisions.
Feedback is a constant in our everyday lives, our actions are reviewed not just in places like work or school but in almost everything we do. It is very important to be understanding and have good communication skills, as being able to listen carefully for a better understanding of the information provided.
Quoting Newton’s third law for every action there’s a reaction, in a similar way works the feedback and in the end is entirely up to us to decide what to do with the information and feedback provided, and to give our best, but always with an open mind leaving space and room for progression.
