Effective Communication In Healthcare Settings
This assignment aims to discuss the various principles that have been implemented into the healthcare settings which emphasise the great importance of effective communication whilst providing a degree of care. Due to effective communication playing a central part of every interpersonal meeting within the healthcare setting, having these principles means that both healthcare workers and patients are able to be educated on exactly how to communicate with each other to maximise the quality of care delivered. Furthermore Physiotherapists play an key role in communications in a health care setting a they record, assess, give reports on treatment and care, and handle information sensitively. Therefore it is extremely important that patients and clients experience effective communication. One of the key principles that aids effective communication in a health care setting is ensuring there is a degree of transparency and openness between both the carer and the patient. This highlights the need for healthcare workers to explain the actions the patient is needing to undertake to minimise reluctant behaviour and panic which may be shown by the patients …show more content…
It is particularly important when healthcare workers are exposed to many cultural differences with their patients. In order for accurate assessment to take place this principle must be applied to practice. Research has shown "In a recent European study, 33% of consultations between general practitioners and ethnic-minority clients involved poor mutual understanding."
