One of the key roles for effective Team Leaders is to communicate with their team in a variety of ways. To complete this task you need to prepare and present a briefing to your team. The topic of the briefing should relate to a work issue that you and your team will be required to participate in – e.g. reviewing production figures with the aim of improving production, a forthcoming team building event. The briefing should take no more than 5 minutes to deliver.

Planning the briefing
Briefly summarise the aims and objectives of the meeting and the needs/expectations of the team prior to the briefing.
You should allow yourself time before the briefing to prepare the location of the briefing.

When you have completed your briefing you will need to provide evidence that you have checked your team’s understanding of the briefing. You could do this by, for example, asking the team to answer a number of questions on the content of the briefing and reviewing their responses.
