Effects of Media
The effects of Media.

There have been a lot of problems with media; it just causes so much unnecessary problems. It’s not necessary to have this entire media to have such a big impact on your life, so just drop it and live free. Media cause you to waste your money on ridiculous unnecessary products often. Teevee also has a big influence on people because a lot of people tend to like to act the way their favorite characters/actors act. I’m always on my phone, a lot of times it keeps me from sleeping or getting stuff done because it’s a direct link to all of my social media, like facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. I always get distracted from doing what I’m supposed to because every time I have to do something, something pops up on my phone and stops me from doing what I was doing in the first place. (Like right now ha-ha.) I’m writing about the effects of media on people because it causes so much extra drama for people and it causes a lot of stress because people will take petty internet problems way to seriously. Media causes the people to automatically label and judge people based on what they see on teevee, on the internet, or in magazines, and it’s pretty sad. I don’t think that taking away all of the media will make anything better, in fact it’ll probably make it worse. If we want all of these problems caused by media to stop, we have to make the people who over-use media to want it to stop; have them realize what a bad impact all of this is making. If they could just stop taking everything so seriously and to the heart then there wouldn’t be a problem. Like all of these problems caused by media to stop, we have to make the people who over-use media to want it to stop; have them realize what a bad impact all of this is making. If they could just stop taking everything so seriously and to the heart then there wouldn’t be a problem. Like seriously people need to learn that things said over media, are pretty much made just to mess with your head.

First off, schemas describe expectations one has about the world. Stereotype, a type of schema, shows how one distinguish knowledge on social groups. The cultivation theory expresses that viewers construct a perception of the world through what they see on television. Television cultivates ideas about marriage, interpersonal relationships, family, and beauty. Likewise, television programs from the United States have the power to globally influence those in different cultures and create an ideological homogenization of the world. Lastly, the levels of television consumption affect individuals and the creations of their self-image.…

The quality of global news coverage has decreased in the past ten years. Even the quantity of reported global crises has gone down. The issue in Darfur has been ongoing since 2003. Though global issues tend to be complex and may not have a foreseeable end or solution, they should not be ignored. More importantly, they should be reported accurately. Defining news is difficult. Deciding what news America would or wouldn’t prefer is difficult. Americans deserve access to whatever news interests them – whether that is the “greatest humanitarian crisis of the twenty-first century” in Darfur or the death of pop singer Michael Jackson (Christians). Is it not any reporter’s goal to truly enlighten its readers especially on such a controversial issue? Underlying this case is the principal of social justice that is often ignored. Is the news media at fault for not always providing “sufficient interpretations?” Or are they ethically sound only addressing little about the topic’s dynamic dimensions or even steering clear of complex conflicts altogether? In order to decide if news coverage in Darfur, for example, is ethically correct steps need to be considered. Defining the situation, addressing values, principles and loyalties will reveal what action news reporters should be taking. Utilizing the Potter Box to analyze the issue in Darfur proves that the issue is not presented in terms of justice but rather in the sensation of violence. I believe that social justice is the ethical principle behind this issue that the news media overlooks too easily, and reporters on this crisis should act on that principle.…
