Effects Of Still Into You By Paramore
Picture this. You are waiting outside your middle school in the bus parking lot with your three best friends talking about how you and the “bf” finally took it to the next level and hugged in between classes. When the bus arrives, you run to get your usual seats in the very back, and whip out the iPod. “Still into You” by Paramore, is catchy, upbeat, and relatable to you and your boyfriend. Unlike most pop songs, “Still Into You” has had an influence on millions of young teenage women, because it focuses on a positive outlook on relationships and dating.
Paramore is a rock band that formed together in “2004 in Franklin, Tennessee”, and it consists of lead singer, “Hayley Williams, guitarist, Taylor York, and drummer, Zac Farro” (Paramore). The drummer mainly formed the band, and at the time he was only 12 years old! Everyone that knew them did not have faith that they were going to get anywhere. In 2005,

This song has a positive look on a relationship between the lead singer and her boyfriend of a few years. One lyric says, “I should be over all these butterflies, but I’m into you… and baby even on our worst nights in into you.” This is stating that no matter how hard it gets and how ever many low points they have in their relationship they will always stick it out and move past it because they love each other. This song overall is an example to the society that not all relationships are bad, and that the man and woman should be equal, loving, and supportive of each other. This is something very important young women can take away from the song. In he music video, they show the band in colorful outfits and in a colorful mansion, dancing around, playing in balloons, riding bikes, and having fun together. The music video connects to the lyrics by showing the couple not only in love with each other, but them experiencing and capturing what love feels like in other ways. They act like they are best

Hozier seamlessly ties in repetition and parallelism to simplify the message he is attempting to communicate. The main part of the song in which the listener can easily detect parallelism is in the third stanza: “No tired sighs, no rolling eyes, no irony/ no ‘who cares’, no vacant stares, no time for me” (7-8). Here, the word “no” is repeated to further emphasize the fact that the artist does not want to have to deal with these signs of hardship in his relationship with this new woman. Another example of repetition is Hozier’s use of the word “babe.” “Babe” is repeated in the song a total of four times. At plain sight it can be seen simply as filler word; however, the placement of the word reveals a deeper reason for its inclusion. Hozier deliberately only uses the word “babe” to start lines in which he says something negative about the relationship. The song begins with, “Babe, there’s something tragic about you” (1). Aforementioned, this line has a negative connotation to it despite beginning with a word of adoration. This creates contradiction in his writing. Another instance in which this is used is in line 13 with, “Babe, there’s something wretched about this,” where the same explanation applies. By following “babe” with these negative descriptions, Hozier…

Ludacris does a remarkable job of portraying his message about the struggles that some adolescents are faced with. “Runaway Love”, by Ludacris, featuring Mary J. Blige (2007), represents the theme of struggle through hip-hop and rap music. It is about little girls who are “stuck up in the world on their own.” They have to take care of themselves because the people they are around do not care about them. They range from nine to eleven years in age, and their goal in life, at such a young age, is to run away from home. Ludacris is trying to get the listener to realize the struggles that even children have to face because adults are not the only ones who have problems, like most people believe. He is very successful in portraying his message through this song. Girls at that young of an age should be enjoying their childhood, but instead they are forced to become adults and take care of themselves.…

This song acknowledges young people, such as women, that they are still powerful no matter what they have gone through. A message would relate to not allowing a man to change who you are. One being themselves is the best they can be. Young minds will see that women are not sticks, or flowers like Wollstonecraft stated, that you can easily break; Women are strong as steel, something that is difficult to break and bend. Just with one person being out of their lives does not completely break us down.…

This song enhances human understanding by telling what is really happening in the world; the status quo of our society. Some of us tolerate the injustice and violence that we see on TV, social media, and the like, but this song reminds us that we are here to spread love, not violence, hatred, and pain. This song just helps us realize that what most of us tolerate is wrong by showing how these issues greatly affects the youth, races, and the rest of the world.…

Firstly, generalizing about the lyrics of this song, it is about a broken heart guy just got dumped by a girl, who did not love him and made him suffer a lot. I can see in the lyrics that this guy is very sad and depressed, which are the same to a breakdown stage in a relationship like every other unhappy couples. According to Wood, this breakdown stage is called dyadic processes, which contains breakdown of everything that create the relationship. In other words, he is suffering in the breakdown processes. I quite understand his feeling because I was a broken heart before. I believe that most of the teenagers have somehow experienced this matter because every relationship contains many different dramatic moments such as crying, fighting, and misunderstanding.…

Ever since 1981, the year that MTV first aired “Video Killed the Radio Star”, music videos have been a huge part of the popular music industry, and any artist hoping to be relevant was expected to produce some music videos. What makes music videos so important is the ability to create a visual representation of the music. Jamiroquai’s music video for the song “Virtual Insanity” is essentially an interpretive dance number for the themes present in the lyrics of the song that are the fear and rejection of technology. However, the entire video is ultimately, heavily ironic, due to the fact that the video employs the use of impressive technology to shoot.…

    Ethics of Lying

I think that many people have found themselves in situations where they must make a decision on whether to lie about something or tell the truth. Many would probably agree that people choose to lie to save themselves from a problematic outcome telling the truth would have caused. Most people have been raised with the foundational principle that lying is wrong, and yet all the people will, at some point in their lives, most likely will choose to lie instead of telling the truth. The interesting phenomenon however is that sometimes when people choose to lie, the result can be less suffering for others than if they told the truth. Although the majority of the population would agree that “lying is wrong”, I think most would also agree that others enduring unnecessary suffering that is not beneficial to them because of the truth is also wrong. So what guidelines should I choose to follow to determine whether it is acceptable for me to lie or not? This is a very hard question to answer because the criteria must be both flexible to meet differing circumstances (which oftentimes have many “gray areas), yet firm enough to ensure that I don’t start lying for the “wrong” reasons. I think my criteria would consist of three questions. Question 1: Will the truth result in unnecessary suffering for others? If the answer is yes I would move to question 2, if no I should tell the truth. Question 2: Will lying benefit or harm others? If lying would harm others I should of course tell the truth, if it would benefit them I will move on to question 3. Question 3: Am I lying for my own personal gain or trying to hide my sin/mistakes from the world? If I am lying for these reasons I should instead tell the truth; I don’t believe selfish lying is morally right. However If I am not being selfish I should move to question 4. Question 4: Do I honestly believe that Jesus would choose to lie instead of telling the truth in this instance? This is a hard question to answer because I of course…
