INTRODUCTION
1.0 Background Information
Techire, originally called Tano Twere by the first settlers, is one of the communities located in the Tano north district of Ghana. The community has a total population of approximately four thousand, seven hundred and seventy five according to the assembly man of the community. Techire is located along the Sunyani -Kumasi highway and shares boundaries with Adrobaa, Afrisipa, Koforidua and yamfo communities all in the Tano north district.

The lifestyle changes associated with consumption of high sugar, salt and fat diets, reckless lifestyle associated with unsafe sex leading to increase in teenage pregnancy, alcoholism, and tobacco use.
The growing population of Techire is negatively affecting the environment in which people live, go to school and work. This is because the pace at which the community is growing has outstripped the pace of development of social services and infrastructure required to meet the people’s needs. Currently, the Techire community has inadequate water supply, lack toilet facility, poor environmental sanitation, with detrimental effects on quality of life and possible outbreak of infectious diseases.
2.1 Environmental Health and Safety
The environment comprises the conditions surrounding the places where people live, work and go to school. A safe and healthy environment including the quality of air, water and soil has major implications for the health of the people of Techire community. However, the air, water and soil are being polluted by littering, improper disposal of waste and human excreta, emissions from vehicles and smoke from burning of waste. The development of infrastructure for waste management has not kept pace with the Techire community. Example women and youth groups
• Provide health information to specific groups such as mothers, children, adolescents and adults with relevant messages on safe sex, healthy eating , exercise, rest and recreation and a life free of addictives and substance abuse. Examples include education on alcohol use, early signs of STIs, reporting early for treatment, condom use, the effects of teenage pregnancies on the individual, community and the country at large, and so on.
• Give education on environmental sanitation or hygiene- proper disposal of refuse, human excreta, hand hygiene and effects of poor environmental sanitation.
• Educate the people on how to treat their household water such as boiling, sieving, chlorination, and so on.
• Promote the use of family planning, ANC and CWC services.
• Educate food vendors especially those providing food for school children in the community on personal, environment and food hygiene as well as the need to have a medical examination as required by
