Religion and Government
I have chosen Egypt as my country for my research. The Egyptian government has played a leading role in appoint and maintaining a religiously strict environment in Egypt that is aggressive to non Muslims and any Muslims who deviate from government endorsed religious norms and customs. This strict environment that stifles independent thinking and religious liberty is the natural breeding ground for Islamist extremists. The U.S should address this root cause of Islamist extremism by establishing and protecting true religious freedom at home.

Egyptians was used to to self-government or local government, since the first Intermediate Period: period of turmoil where Egyptians broke into numerous city-states. The religious system integrated political and spiritual elements known as a theocracy, or rule by divine counsel.
Government and religion were inseparable in ancient Egypt. The pharaoh was the head of state and the divine representative of the gods on Earth. Religion and government bought order to society through the building of temples, the creation of laws, taxation, the organization of labor, trade with neighbors and the defense of the country's involvement.
Religion was the most important to Ancient Egyptians. Egyptians was accustomed to their own laws and comfortable, so change was a problem, therefore they refused any type of change. They did not question the beliefs which had been handed down to them. They only questioned new things that was being presented to them The religion of Ancient Egypt was a polytheistic religion with one brief period of monotheism.
